If you all would like a list of Communist parties in the USA, go here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Communist_parties_in_the_United_States

Last I checked, American Democrats (emphasis on the capitalized D) don't seem to match up to the ideas of revolutionary or institutional Communism. They are more likely to be regarded applying some aspects of Social Democracy ever since the 1920's and Huey Long here in Louisiana (perhaps earlier in other parts of the country, depending on the social movements unique to the varying regions of the US.

Some posters on this board that also criticize government initiated electrical, water, sewerage and telecommunications services throughout the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, along with public education, would probably criticize the State Bank of North Dakota for being a sign of despotic, tyrannical big government rule of the libertarian individualistic masses. That bank managed to form 100+ years ago when the NY and Chicago bankers were screwing over farmers of N. Dakota. That bank now helped buffer their state from the insanity, yes, insanity of the housing bubble meets securitization of the CDO/CDS nonsense that tanked our economy and nearly crashed our system 2 years ago.

So at any rate, glad to hear that at least one of the two coastal congress representatives had a response to Joe Barton. The Oil companies might invest in the extraction of resources, but ultimately they are the people's resources, held in trust by our state and our federal government. These resources cannot be recreated once mined and burned, wise use is necessary, and setting a wise energy policy along with damage containment and mitigation policies independent of those producing is crucial, not least of which is necessity to have INDEPENDENT CONGRESSMEN who are not shills for any one sector or capital interest group.

Long Live the Corporations, God Save the BP..... NOT - Jason D. Faulk

J.P., you said "furor" which is too close to "fuhrer." I think it was a Freudian misspell. You must be a Hitler protege, a Nazi sympathizer and therefore an Obama lover because Obama is a secret Marxist which is really just a socialist, and socialism is communism and communism is just like Nazism which is really just Marxism. Anyway.....you're a leftist socialist communist Marxist Nazi. - Resident

Stoshak--

"unlearned"? "ignorant"? What ME? YOU'RE the one who started this with your atrocious spelling and leftist drivel.

Like I already said it's not the term, it's the phrase AND the term together that remind me so much of the Bolsheviks.

But it's alright! You're not a socialist, OK? My mistake. You just talk like one sometimes :) - ragin_cajun

Though I've read Trotsky, the term is attributed to Karl Marx through "The Communist Manifesto." Also, it is your anonymous unlearned perception as to what the term conveys. If you choose to read so much into my usage of the word, then it is you who have the problem. Not to mention that you do not possess the courage of your convictions. Hence, you do not sign you name. Again, ignorance is a good reason to rage. - J. P. Stoshak

Yeah, just writing "prolitariate" does not make you a leftist. However, writing " atrocities inflicted on the prolitariate anywhere in the world" does. Read just a little Trotsky, and you'd recognize the writing style--the exaggeration, the term proletariat, and then the global perspective, it just encapsulates the Bolshevik rallying cry in a very concise way.

The reason why I mentioned it twice, is because Resident posed a question about the post. He wrote "So Stoshak is a "leftist" for saying that BP must be held accountable and ..." and ended the sentence with a question. So I answered him. - ragin_cajun

Such furor over a misspelled word, proletariat, that simply means working class. Who'd a ever thunk it? Bottom line is that any corporate entity must be held accountable, whatever their national origin, for atrocities inflicted on the working class and all classes of people anywhere in the world. Misspelled words and/or misused phrases are kinda Yogi Berra-esque, "You know what he means." No nom de plume here. I signed my name. - J. P. Stoshak

To dwell on a misspelled word and to refer to someone as illiterate because of a typo shows no intelligence whatsoever. The term proletariat does not signify leftist simply due to its use. That is a rather stupid call as well in that the poster had to make sure that his lack of depth is noticed. He posted the same item theme in this second post. redudancy is a sign of not being taken seriously. It is easy to understand why he is ragin'. - What, me worry?

Resident--

No, Stoshak is a leftist for using terms like "prolitariate" to refer to people, and he's an illiterate for misspelling the word.

For the record, I am not the same "Ragin Cajun" that posted on June 18. Also for the record, I agree that BP should pay for damages that it has caused--basic property rights in a capitalist society MUST be protected in every instance. I even think that the escrow account is a good idea, assuming the "third party" that is managing the fund is reliable and honest. The government can't be trusted to hold money, and BP can't be trusted to fairly dispense it. - ragin_cajun

So Stoshak is a "leftist" for saying that BP must be held accountable and it's good to set up a fund to assist the people devastated by this event? Maybe you were too quick to go into the talking point cliches this time? Plumpy still has you beat for the amount of empty rhetoric per paragraph.

It's downright laughable seeing the partisans taking Barton's side because he's a Republican criticizing Obama. The same people who just last week were criticizing Obama for not doing enough and not meeting with BP CEOs are now criticizing him for meeting with BP CEOs and getting them to set up a fund for damages. Amazing. - Resident

What if a foreign-based corporation in your own town caused an oil spill all over your own neighborhood, including your house, killing all the grass and landscaping and making it impossible for anything to grow there for years? What if this corporation made incredible profits from your town's natural resources, but had not invested in safety precautions that may have prevented this? What if your kids were getting sick from the fumes? Would you want to be on your own to deal with it, or would you expect your mayor or governor to force the company to clean up the mess they caused and reimburse you for the expenses you incurred because of their incident? - Bayou Self

To those who think the $20b fund is a bad idea, what would you like Obama to do? Let BP just go on as business as usual as if nothing has happened? "OH, we know you're sorry for the 'mistakes' you've made, but we understand, stuff happens, don't worry about it, just do the best you can." Right. It's pretty clear that BP was engaging in reckless endangerment on a mass scale. Last year when the Obama admin made some noises about tightening up regulations all the oil suckups were complaining about stifling the industry and now that something has happened Obama is to blame? Get real. - Hugh Robertson

YEP YEP, The Democrats do everyone and the Republicans single out the middle class. There are not any poverty-level Republicans, if there are any, i've never met them. THey know they can't squeeze anything out of the wealthy, and the poverty peeps have not anything to take away, so guess who gets Bourre'd.
YEP! The middle working class, " a dying breed!
With all the peeps on government assistance, and the Baby-Mama's
dropping em as though, they are gettin paid to have em.
The only way to get a good scratch is to do the middle class !
Republicans bleed RED WHITE and BLUE... "THE GREATEST CAPITALIST GOD EVER PUT ON THIS EARTH, and they hate Communism, for they know they could'nt survive in a communist state, they'd be lashed and hung out to dry, for robbing the Communist Party ! - HARDHAT

"prolitariate"--What kind of leftist are you? You can't even SPELL proletariat. So concerned about the working class and the marxist solution to their "struggle" that you've never even bothered to read enough to remember how to properly spell the word.
