This state has an absent, secretive, nasty little man as a governor that speaks to no one in this state, doesn't give a hoot about this state or its citizens and now I have to watch factions of "little boys" peeing on each other. No matter what, the pee stinks. Does this state not have enough problems? ARE THE ROADS IN LAFAYETTE PARISH NOT BAD ENOUGH - FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS!!!! - THAT THESE TWO REPS HAVE TO TAKE OUT RULERS TO SEE WHOSE IS LONGER???? Instead of working together, they're going to teach lessons. Well, for two men I liked and admired and certainly thought at least had the best interests in mind for their state and the people they serve, they sure are a disgusting disappointment. I sure don't trust either one to be able or qualified to work out something to save this state from disaster. So I really don't give a c___ why or what they have against one another, I don't like their politics and their "playmates". Too many people in the state legislature just thinking about themselvesl. When they're the only ones left in the state 'cause we all had to leave what the heck are they going to do then? I'm outta here soon. And my kids, when they're done with their state supported college educations, are out also. BP has guaranteed there won't be any reason for them to stay and I'm following 'cause the state of this state, the politics, I'm not facing that in my old age. I may not find a smarter population in another state, but I'll at least find a more comfortable climate! - Morrow

Responding to Terry: You must be Terry Broussard, one of Nick Gautreaux's three 'bought and paid for' legislative aides, writing to protect your paycheck. I read Nick Gautreaux's Senate Bill 396, and nowhere in that bill does it mention rapist, sex offenders, or child molesters. You obviously put that in your comment for the shock value. Intellectually dishonest. An attempt to fool those dumb Cajuns, right? The bill precludes felony offenders from qualifying to run for office. THIS IS ALREADY THE LAW. The Louisiana Supreme Court just ruled in a case dealing with this issue during the session. Nick Gautreaux's bill was nothing more than an attempt to enhance his image. Gautreaux may represent some of Lafayette Parish, but it isn't much. And it certainly is not composed entirely of contract bus drivers. Gautreaux is a sell-out of the first order and the Lafayette Parish School Transportation System has grown from 7 million when Hardy tried to reign it in to at present 17 million. If Hardy conducts an audit, the majority of Lafayette Parish citizens will howl and LPSS won't pass a tax for facilities. We can all thank Nick Gautreaux for this. He sold out to the few at the expense of the 28,000 kids in the system. Now that's child abuse. - yesidoknow

That Terry presents his perception of a series of actions, or non-actions, that may, or may not, have taken place is a joke. His version of events, written to convey actual knowlege of legislative procedure, is convoluted and misleading at best. Hardy's bill to reign in out of control LOCAL school bus drivers and their fees was another boon to the taxpayer, but shot down by the good 'ol boy politics of Gautreaux. Shame on you, Terry, for supporting Gautreaux's asinine pettiness over local relief to local taxpayers. "The Independent" has the facts, just not your misleading and incorrect version of them.

RICK HARDY, is really too engrossed in expanding on his political career, and he is more interested in his rising star and manipulating his constiuents, into believing he has their interest at heart when the Great Illusionists is working his MOJO on the peeps....Ricky is reaching for the moon with his grubby sticky hands...........
Ricky is a Glorified Pedophile's Cheerleader, he is now CA-CA, in my book. - NORTHSIDIAN SHOTGUN.

Real Facts:

Senator Gautreaux, Michot and Guillory represent Lafayette Parish. Representative Hardy represents a small portion of Lafayette Parish. He (Hardy) filed a local bill that would have micro manage the Lafayette Parish School Board. Whats next he will set the janitors salaries and lunch room servers salaries? Maybe he will set people who cut grass hourly rate from $70.00 per Hour to $20.00 per hour; I doubt that ! (maybe he should run again for school board). The real fact is that Rep. Hardy tried to get Troy Hebert from Jeanerette to handle a Lafayette Parish Bill. That only tells you that Rep. Hardy was up to no good!! Why would he do this? 1. My understanding is that he said in committee that all his delegation was for the local bill. (not True) Another fact is the bill was reported without ACTION which means someone would have to move to have it read a third time before going up for debate (DID NOT HAPPEN) the only other motion for that type of bill is to INDEFINITELY POSTPONE which was done. Representative Hardy asked Senator Gautreaux to bring bill back from being Postponed (BEING TRUE TO HIS WORD HE MADE THAT MOTION AND IT PASSED ) this allowed the bill back the way it came from the senate committee. NOW Senator Gautreaux's bill was a Statewide bill reported favorably by the house committee. The Bill to prevent Rapist, Sex Offender, Child Molesters from running for office. So everyone who voted to play a game was VOTING to allow these monsters to run for office. SO THE REAL TRUTH IS REP. HARDY HAS NO WORD BECAUSE HE WAS GOING TO BRING BACK SENATOR GAUTREAUX'S BILL and DID NOT; but it may be that his coolness and petty politics has allowed this election cycle to have some child molesters running for office.. SHAME ON YOU !! So I will support a man with his word over one who does not act on his. I happen to like Mr. Hardy but it is soooo funnnny when he was mad because school board did not talk to him about some grant funds he was will to sacrifice the children's needs over his struggle for POWER; BUT HE DID NOT HAVE THE courtesy WHEN HE FILED BILL TO TALK TO senators and constituents WHO REPRESENT and work in LAFAYETTE PARISH ALSO; OHHH HE talked to SENATOR HEBERT OF IBERIA PARISH: I can reassure you that he did not hurt Senator Gautreaux he hurt the STATE OF LOUISIANA.
INDEPENDENT SHOULD GET REAL FACTS RICKEY HARDY TELL THE TRUTH TO THE NEWSPAPER AND STOP BEING A GRANDSTANDER!!!!!!!! - TERRY

Nick Gautreaux thought of himself as quite invulnerable. All one has to do is look at who voted against Hardy's bill in the House to know who approached Gautreaux to scuttle HB1188. Just a wild guess, but I would venture to say that it was local House members Montucet and Badon who appealed to Gautreaux. Montucet, Badon, and Gautreaux: Good 'Ol Boy politics at its worst. Hardy took the wind out of a more than a few sails. Yes, another audit of the LPSS Transporation Dept. would seem to be in order. - TheProblemIs

Bus drivers--what happens when you are uneducated.

English degree = waiting tables

High school drop out = bus driver and $20 an hour.

Hmmm. Makes you think. - Ariana Puffington

Nick Gautreaux is a sell-out to the contract bus drivers. He's in Vermilion Parish, and he's screwing Lafayette Parish. He's the type of elected official that has encouraged the Lafayette Parish Transportation System budget to continue to climb into the millions of dollars. Maybe it's time for Hardy to ask for another legislative audit to expose the incredible expenditures by Samec and company. Audit them and see what you find. It'll be just like the last time. They'll all claim ignorance. This undermines the public's confidence in the system. LPSS will pay when it comes time for the tax election. - yesidoknow
