Rig Hand

There's a new wireless provider in Broussard, now. I've seen there signs on the St. Martinville highway about halfway between 90 and downtown St. Martinville. - ragin_cajun

In reading these posts, I thought it would be helpful to offer comments.

First, the LUS Fiber project is progressing well and we are meeting, and plan to continue to meet, all of our financial obligations. We are ahead of schedule in our field deployment, which means we are able to serve more customers sooner and bring in the corresponding revenues in more quickly. Those attributes work well for the future of the success of this business.

We have just made our first major improvement in our video services, through our new partnership with Microsoft Mediaroom, which offers virtually instantaneous channel changes and other customer friendly features. We have already received high marks from many of our most discerning customers. This is just the beginning - as we are in the process of adding many more popular features to our system

The existence of LUS Fiber offers much to the community in ways far beyond just the cadré of services we provide today. We began serving our first customer less than 16 months ago, and already have many thousands of satisfied customers – the list keeps growing every day.

We offer a competitive solution, which means customers have a choice of what services they want and from whom they will buy them. That new competition means lower pricing and better services to the citizens and businesses in Lafayette. I am often approached by people who live in neighboring parishes who are well aware that customers are saving money in Lafayette due to the competition, and those areas outside of Lafayette are paying more. They deduce that, without LUS Fiber, the city residents and businesses would be paying the same high rates they are paying. Some of them have already decided to move into the city of Lafayette, for this and other reasons.

We recognize some customers may be satisfied with a provider other than LUS Fiber. We recognized that in our business plan, which was built on ultimately serving only half the potential customers in Lafayette. While we would like to earn everyone’s business, we respect the decision of each citizen and business owner and will work even harder to earn their business in the future.

Concerning the issue of the future of telecommunications, especially as it applies to wireless, the LUS Fiber infrastructure is likley in the best position in the nation to support a phenomenal wireless network. While today's wireless means small screens and slow speeds, the wireless systems of the future will require the kind of bandwidth that you need to see HD TV. Only a fiber infrastructure can support that level of bandwidth requirement and LUS Fiber is ready today to provide that level of community-wide major bandwidth.

We are only in the infancy of this new community asset. Building a system like this from scratch takes a lot of effort and the employees of LUS Fiber have shown commitment and resiliency and in every step. As with our conventional electric, water and sewer services, LUS Fiber will continue to work hard to earn the trust each customer-owner in the city of Lafayette and to bring you the best services at competitive prices.

And, as always, I am ready to answer any questions or concerns. My office number is 291-5804 and my e-mail address is thuval@aol.com

Thanks,
Terry

LUS Fiber SUCKS, the interface is slow, the install takes a week and was it worth it .......UMMMM no not at all, I should have stayed with COX in the first place, which has been around for years and has had fiber for over 20 of those years. What was I really thinking, the grass is definately not greener on the LUS side. - John Doe

In teh last Fiber article, "Fiber buildout to be completed in August", Huval announced revenue forecasts for this year cut in half. A poster said that means that LUS fiber will be insolvent by the end of next fiscal year.

Is that correct? Do we know that now? Can someone more knowledgeable than me comment? - ragin_cajun
