I'm kinda turned off by the "horse cop station"

that's all we need- a military presence at the "park"

I can just see it now- steroid using cops with guns

I was just being a smart-ass proposing a crawfish farm. Who knew they were getting a HORSE FARM?! :)

And you thought I was obsessing, Walter! Maybe LCG restaurants and LCG oil companies ARE next. - ragin_cajun

"Joey Durel is putting his money (well, our money) where his mouth is." So how much is my City tax money and how much is my Parish tax money, since City of Lafayette residents pay both taxes?
"...one that would offer passive recreation for all of Lafayette Parish..."
Then the funds to purchase, operate and maintain this should be strictly paid with Parish only tax dollars.
"...no one should feel responsible for ‘buying’ it."
Perhaps the "non-conned" cities (Broussard, Carencro, Duson, Scott, Youngsville) can put up matching the City of Lafayette Funding. - Andrew M. Hebert

" LCG could turn it into a theme part--Cajun Land. "

LCG could turn it into a theme part--Cajun Land. We could have alligators on bareback, the tunnel of shrimp, and a chank-chank music festival. - Chief Rabbi of Mecca

Yes! It's time to get out the vote one last time (we hope), and muster public support for this proposal. It is a wise use of city funds to develop this well-deserved infrastructure project. Lafayette's investment in green space shows the country that we are a 21st Century community. - Whitney Broussard

Ahhh, after all this time, it's about time. The Horse Farm never left the mind of the public.

Thank you to everyone that stuck their neck out when this was politically unpopular. Thanks to all who used their passion, their smarts, their influence and their patience to see the first goal of this campaign through and that brought a public consensus on this concern.

I'd especially like to applaud Rob Stevenson, who several years ago had the gumption to say, Yes, he believed that a resolution supporting the use of the Horse Farm for a public park, could in fact be passed through the Consolidated Council. That I believe, proved to be a major turning point in this entire affair.

Looking forward to bicycling the park one day, finding some solitude, and browsing for produce and local goods at a Farmers' Market, C'est Magnifique! Allons-y! - Jason D. Faulk

JoDu? Seriously? Have you gotten so lazy you can't even type out Joey Durel and have to resort to cutesy nicknames? At least try to act like journalists and not TMZ reporters. - nbdynprtcular

Bravo, Mr. Durel!
This is why we are proud to have you as City-Parish President.
Let's all unite for this wonderful cause to benefit us all, as the Community Foundation of Acadiana is the perfect charity for this lease. - Peter & Ingrid Czichomski, www.euro-breads.com
