Nearly a week and no word from phd Wms... This issue will not go away. He's going to have to address the situation sometime. I just had a thought, how do you look your children in the eyes knowing you've brought this kind of shame on them. How do you look your hard working daddy in the eye? Do you lie to them, cover your behind? The kids are old enough to know and understand. I always feel for the kids and family. Course, my own daddy used to say "Your good name is the ONLY thing you take with you when you die." I try to always remember that, if only to keep my dead daddy's name good. - BoFred

Bofred, you are right. You hit it on the nose. I do not even know who you are but I do know that you are someone who cares about a community called Lafayette. What happens in Lafayette affects us all. We both know that this is not a race isssue it is an issue of pure ignorance. Why can't our community show the rest of the world that we can come together as one and work togehter. I believe that I speak for a lot of people that government is not our favorite friend. But we need to keep order. However, we have to start making better descision when electing people to represent us in our district. You see maybe african americans (I am one) just don't get it. If we all work together then everyone wins. Stop this us against them mantality. - Future 101

LAF NATIVE RESIDING IN CA "Mr. Hardy for stamping out corruption in government.
-----------------

Hey horse pucky, this is about Williams, Guillory, etc. Hardy is only mentioned once, and then it's nothing to do with the issue. I think you are actually residing inside Chris's head. - Odessa Goodwin

"Future 101" I wanted to remark about some other memories. I remember a culture of "strong black families that had to help one another out", and I'm not saying it doesn't exist now, but I remember friends who got off the bus at Grandma's house, cause mom was working. We all have our clothes sewn, at home or by someone else, but I remember my own grandmother commenting on the fact the black children dressed better than the white children. What she meant was she prefered the neat look of the black children she saw rather than white kids in scraggly blue jeans and "hippie" style clothing. But there was a pride in looking neat, in doing well in school and many black families sacrificed a lot and worked more than one job, to facilitate black children's education. Many still do, and I recognize that and I recognize the desire to have it all and have it quickly has been to the detriment of the country not just one segment of society. Impatience and disrespect and greed has been to the detriment of the country and some segments have suffered to a larger degree I think. But I know the background is there. Most of the black society I have known or dealt with are just like the white community I grew up in, hard working, just plodding along, one foot in front of the other, but never stopping and eventually reaching the goal they are trying to achieve. I believe that is why it bothers me to see someone take advantage of their community and rob that community, and bring shame and distrust on that community. I know most people are just trying to make it from day to day, week to week and have a hard time doing more in the community, but I also have been fortunate to have met some individuals who have the integrity to make their community a better place. We ALL need to do more to uplift everyone and we need to remember we're examples to all. - BoFred

The only difference tween LUS and LHA is the first is run by
the puppet masters and the LHA is without reins.
Once upon a time in Lafayette the STORYLINE READ, the LUS alpo bits were disbursed EQUALLY as long as one walked the line, so the LHA took it one step farther, from the nit-wit schoolboard busdrivers/councilman to the attitude-wise GUILLORYS/WILLIAMS/
SHELVINS/PIERRE'S.... RICKY "HOMEBOY" YOU HAVE GOT A LOSING CAUSE!

BoFred you are so right. I am african american and it really disappoints me to see what is going on. Black people stop and think. Get your lives together. Get up and get a job. Stop depending on government for help. Get rid of the excuses that there are not jobs. There are jobs. Do what you need to do to be self dependent. It feels better. Believe in yourself. You see you do not like when someone tells you this. This is fact. Be better educated so that we you have to make a choice you select based on what you believe in. Hopefully, someone who will make your community better and someone you can trust. There are many good white people just like black and there are many bad white people just like black. Surround yourself with good people black or white or both. Your life will be better. Upper Lafayette will not get better until you make it better. Stop stealing out of Wal-mart and other stores. Clean up your yards and have some pride. Again, The time in now. Upper Lafayette can be everything that we want it to be it is up to you. Stop blaming government. So we blame Joey Durel. Do you believe that Joey can work with trash like Brandon when he has no leverage compared to if he had someone from the district that had sense. Do you think that he could deal with Chris. Again, not what we need. I am very upset about all of this and I own my home and love upper Lafayette. But, it must change or we are out. Again, good people leaving a good community. Stand up and do what is right. NO MORE Brandon Shelvin's, Chris Williams, Walter Guilloy's, Johnathon Carmouche. Emabrace the clean up that Rickey is doing and let's move forward. Let's show everyone that we can make it. START NOW!! Finally, learn to get along with all people and watch your life change for the better. - Future 101

I was not done with my comment. Black people let me remind all of you that you do not need a college degree to run for an office. You need to be a citizen and live in the district. Perfect example is Mr. Hardy who ran a grass roots election and did a good job of it. Rickey is cleaning up the S*&T that the black community has created. The time is now. Embrace the opportunity to get rid of the trash and watch the district grow. There were good black men in both the council and representative race. The black community again chose a loaf of bread in exchange for a vote. At least we can say that we see Rickey in the community. We can't say the same about Brandon Shelvin who is the biggest jerk in the land. Brandon enjoy this term because it is your last. By the way brandon thanks for making the photo shoot. That's the only time that we see you. Brandon what have you done lately. Get a life sir, pay your child support, find a real job and pay back your debt. You are not bigger than life. We are sick of you and all crooked politics. By the way we heard about your meeting to get back at Rickey Hardy. Brandon you still have not learned your lesson. Grow up son. Looks do not bond you out of jail. - Future 101

Wow! Why is anyone surprised at this. This distric had an opportunity to elect new leadership. They chose Brandon Shelvin one of Lafayette's Lagrest crooks. The district had an opportunity to elect someone in district 44 race as well. Instead again look what we got. Williams, Shelvin, and Pierre have truly disappointed us. Now good candidates will be discourage to run again in this district. This community needs to blame itself. Stop allowing people to buy you. Brandon Shelvin during his run was buying people for $2.00 and ohter candidates was doing the same. Black people wake up!!! You are the creator of this problem. Let me remind all of you that - Future 101

Man, I've been in Lafayette a long time now. I remember when The Northgate Mall was the only mall in Lafayette. I remember when "Southside" wasn't even in the city of Lafayette. I don't remember anyone crying "Oh, woe is me. No one is doing anything to better the Southside." My dad worked many weekends trying to make a baseball field on Holy Cross Church property 'cause there weren't any in the Broadmore area. No one was crying that the government wasn't doing anything. They put on their rubber boots and did it themselves. The Acadiana Mall was built by business men and stores located there. Neighborhoods developed there. The towns of Broussard, Scott and Youngsville have made efforts to attract business and development. Southside Lafayette might one day have the "blight" mentioned. River Ranch was developed by business people. I resent the implication that somehow "the goverment", or politicians, have been responsible for development in South Lafayette to the detriment of "Upper Lafayette". As I said before, no one was crying, "Oh, Mr. Politician, you must do something to bring business to South Lafayette." Besides, a whole heck of a lot of development has taken place in North Lafayette, like the Health Unit complex, and new stores and business complexes. Quit crying and do something except look for a handout. - BoFred

LAF PERSON CLAIMING TO LIVE IN CA:

Maybe some businesses would invest more on the Northside if the community leaders in that area would step up and help out with the crime and drug problems. People need to learn to take care of the own communities, point out the wrong-doers, and be willing to inform police of the criminals. But as long as "leaders" on the Northside keep turning a blind eye to the criminals and drug dealers, so not to be "snitches" on the street, nothing will progress.

Besides, it's much easier for the Chris Williams's of the world to just keep blaming Lafayette North's problems on Bendel Gardens and other Southside neighborhoods, as if those people are the reason there is crime and drugs rampant in the North districts. - reality

To those who write that Representative Rickey Hardy should focus on jobs not corruption, let me remind you again. With the almost half a million a year that went to Chris Williams, Carmouche, and Guillory through the Housing Authority/Smile, District 44 could have employed 30 out-of-work District 44 citizens at $20,000 each per year. So, keep it up Representative Rickey Hardy because corruption robs your district of jobs for the poor and unemployed. - Honest Joe

I've looked, read and listen. Now I really know that government, no matter what angle is corrupted. Chris has been a snake, a lier and a hoe mungger, that has hoodwrinle people for years. He sat on the the council and did nothing but talk. When you called him.... He along with others are phony and he got what he deserves. The thing is where is all that money( he lives in wine ally)
Chris, Benjaman and not to count Mr also Right Hardy, with his GED non spelling, can't read self, must have Martin L King rolling in his grave. Hardy is a mouth piece and doesn't gave a dam about anybody. Dural got him in there along with his boys just to use for their gain. He doesn't gave a dam about us. The sad part is I can remember when he was a bumb, stalking people at Race Track.
He's dirty too he just gets rinse regularly, but oneday a stain will not come out without just a quick rinse - keeping it real

I'll repeat what I've said countless times in this forum. I applaude Mr. Hardy for stamping out corruption in government.

The Original Northsidian, I think it is instructive if you take a ride on the southside and look at the prosperity taking place and then compare that with the slum that is north Lafayette.

By not bringing jobs and industry to the northside Mr. Hardy is defacto allowing the southside to use your tax dollars exclusively for the betterment of the southside.

Ever notice how business and industry is booming on the southside. That's your tax dollars at work.

Ever notice how there is nothing but blight on the northside? That's your tax dollars not at work.

The Original Northsidian, you are experiencing what is called "taxation without representation. Mr. Hardy is not making your tax dollars work for district 44. He's got you sufficiently distracted so that you don't see the blight.

Make him do his job, sir/ma'am. - LAF NATIVE RESIDING IN CA

A couple of insightful comments from Guillory were in The Daily Advertiser on Thursday.

From the article, it sounds as though Guillory is going to throw Williams and the other four DHAP case workers under the bus, as well as Carmouche.

From the Advertiser article:
"He (Guillory) said the case managers should have submitted time cards to document their work.
"We have to rely on their honesty," he said."

And,

"The agency had no time to plan, so he (Guillory) started assembling workers, setting their pay at $11 an hour and handing the program over to Carmouche to administer, Guillory said."

But at the end of the article, Guillory seems to accept responsibility, admitting he is distraught about the situation and that he failed on the "technical" aspects of his job.

"I'm distraught about this whole situation," he said Wednesday.
One of the things Guillory is most proud of is making the authority more people-oriented, with employees treating residents with respect, he said.
"I'm proud of that part," Guillory said, but he admits he fell short recently with regard to technical aspects of running the housing authority.
"I have failed" in that regard, he said.
