I have so many wonderful memories of NuNu's and so many wonderful things to say about the people who started The Town Market. I saw the market grow. I was there when the first artist moved their stuff in, the first Fire and Water and I was there the first time a band played for a packed house in the gallery. It was truly wonderful to see what it became.
I am so happy that I did not see the 2 comments right before mine when they were posted. Being as some time has passed since then, I am slightly less enraged by their ignorance. There is no blessing in losing so many people's original works of art, family heirlooms, and all of the hard work that was put into NuNu's. That building was conceived by creative minds and built with love by friends and family, and though it may not have been state of the art, it was ever evolving into whatever purpose it needed to serve. As for the other comment-I love that you believe that you are "fully aware", but you are not. You would have done well to keep your small(town) minded gossip off of the world wide web what? People who say such terrible things don't use their own names and they don't handle their business out in the open-They are sketchy and generally not awesome. - Ashley Degeyter

To those who fully understand the financial situation in which Nu Nu's and George Marks had placed himself in, its no suprise that the building was found burned down on that beautiful sunny morning. - WHAT?

I have been to NuNu's and the fire may be a blessing. It needed some remodeling, especially the restroom. - Krusty

The support we have received from our friends from across the globe has allowed for me to realize how much NUNU's meant to them. I know our hard work over the last 5 years was not lost in vain. - Rita Marks

It is no surprise that Town Market in Arnaudville should rouse such support both locally and abroad in such a relatively short time. From the "birth" of Frederick's l'Ecole des Arts and NuNu's only 5 short yrs. ago to its "ashes" and then again to its "rebirth," people recognize that what sets Town Market apart is its all-inclusive dedication to the cultural development of the community.

A very important part of this cultural aspect is, of course, the French language, spoken by both Cajuns and Creoles in the area. An on-going French literacy class which began in January of this year, teaches French speakers to read the language that they have always spoken. These enthusiastic "students," ranging in age from 45 to 75, feel that their language is being validated through this class, that they are re-claiming their heritage....for they know that language begets culture and vice versa.

In spite of the fire, the class did not miss a beat and continues today in another location in Arnaudville thanks to quick action by George. A new French literacy class will be offered in January, 2011 and French language classes are coming up this fall.

Help us to keep the drums going as the phoenix continues to rise. - Brenda Mounier

After driving by the burnt down building several times, I often wondered how or if they would rebuild this landmark. After seeing this article and knowing that "Green Design" is being taken into account, I cannot help myself to want to be a part of the rebuild. Being in the solar industry and also having artist in my family, I think it is very important to have a place where the public can go and learn about the 2. We hope to donate solar for a portion of the building. I look forward to helping with the rebuild. WHO DAT!!!!!! LOUISIANA PROUD!!! - Louisiana Solar Solutions

...and I would like to say 'thank you' to MidSouth Bank for working with us during this difficult transition....in addition, all those folks that took the lead making certain that the programs facilitated by Frederick l'Ecoe des Arts/NUNU's would continue...as difficult as this process has been, so many folks have exhibited great understanding regarding our current situation and have worked to see us through it all...the outpouring of support from everyone has given us the courage to continue and helped us not to become too jaded.
The spirit of it all lives--NUNU's will rise again. - George Marks

Beautifully written article. Thank you so much for bringing attention to this worthy cause in Arnaudville. We are all so lucky to have such a visionary person, George Marks, who, instead of giving up, embraces hope, and the value of his ancestry and his community. - Jill Hackney
