If all the blacks would just go back to "their" side of town the Downtown issue would disappear as fast as a hanging curve ball hit by Willie Mays. This is clearly personal to some people and it is about "them" - NunnaUBidness

Ragin-Cajun: they like to enforce the laws that are simple to enforce. What I mean by that it's like traffic tickets. No skill involved and no thinking involved. They have so many laws on the books no one knows them all. More laws and more taxes, that is the American way!! - The Original Northsidian

This is getting out of control. First checkpoints, Then they want to strap you down and draw blood if you refuse to consent to a search. Now this?

Since when did we become A police state? What's next? The Cajun Gestapo busting in your house to see if you are playing Bourré?

You people are getting out of control. Someone needs to get their ego in check.

Who is coming up with this crap and when can we vote them out of office?

Farrow

I couldn't agree with you more. On the other hand, they should prosecute to the fullest extent of the law breaking real laws down there, like serving underage kids, overfilling the clubs with patrons, underage drinking, theft, assault, rape, etc.

There are plenty enough laws broken down there without inventing some stupid ones to enforce, too. - ragin_cajun

>driving a motor vehicle past the same
>traffic control point ... more than twice in
>any two (2) hour period between the hours
>of 8:00 P.M. and 5:00 A.M.”

That's a bit draconian, don't you think? Suppose I have a legitimate reason for passing a particular spot more than twice in two hours, and suppose it's none of the police's business why I'm doing that?

Between this and those speeding cameras/lights, you Lafayette people are giving up too much of your freedoms for the sake of "security."

Moreover, what's wrong with "cruising"? Hell, I did that, too, when I was a kid . . . ever see "American Graffiti"? It's an American tradition. - Farrow

Bust Em Dano !
Jay and all the other DA'S never broke a sweat, never held a gun in combat, never sweated a draft and never got their candy-ass shotup or maimed in combat and don't you know Original Shotgun, these dumbass politicians are why our kids are getting killed in Afghanistan and around the world, so these downhome career descendants of other career draft dodgers can pass laws to send todays youngsters to die on foreign lands, fighting the wars that the candy-ass career politicians began and with a flip of a coin deciding that these kids may come home on leave but they can't enter a nightclub. " But ! You can be sure that these career politicians, 18 & 19 year old offspring, can swill all the booze they want at "THE CITY CLUB. Now thats another story, one THE IND, should break out The Daily Advertiser Rag, ain't got enough ink or paper, or consent to publish this fact . - NORTHSIDIAN SHOTGUN

It is amazing how this city devotes so much attention to the downtown club scene. Every major road in this town is jammed pack with traffic daily, roads are horrible(ex. intersection cameron & university), and all growth is heading out of the city. - beheard

How 'bout if they pass an ordinance that says that LCG can't allow more than 2 bars to occupy a 2 mile radius? Instead of passing laws limiting citizens' behavior, how about if the Council puts limits on GOVERNMENT'S behavior?

Or maybe they could just move the Jefferson St. Strip back to McKinley Street? :) - ragin_cajun

The city needs to worry about the hookers cruising for sex and crack! We have to many laws that are not enforced now!! This is just political grandstanding to get attention!! Go after the drug dealers!! Cruising is a cultural right of passage!! And where did Jay Castille drink when he was young? A 18-20 year old can die for big oil in Iraq and Afghanistan but can't drink beer. How hypocritical are we?? - The Original Northsidian
