"Resident" --

"I can't see a lot of difference in the stance on "issues" between Melancon and Vitter. "

You and Citizen keep saying that, as if simply repeating it makes it so. Facts are otherwise. On historic pieces of legislation over the past 2-3 years, Vitter and Melancon have NOT voted the same. Though Melancon voted against healthcare reform, NATIVE assures me that Melancon is for a PUBLIC OPTION, as he would type it. So although he voted the same as Vitter on that, his position is exactly opposite Vitter's.

I'll repost my remarks on this from a previous post.....

1--Vitter’s amendment to the so-called “Restoring American Financial Stability Act” is explained at http://biggovernment.com/jberl...nt-passes/ That limits the scope of this ridiculous act. Without that amendment, every retailer and manufacturer wouuld have had to prove to the Federal Reserve that they were "solvent". Ridiculous.

2--Vitter piled on to a couple of failed efforts to audit the Federal Reserve. I think that's good, don't you? Certainly took nerve to side with Bernie Sanders on this.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/10/huffpost-hill---may-10-20_n_570895.html

3--He voted AGAINST Healthcare reform, while Landrieu voted for it. None of us is really sure where Melancon stands on the legislation.
4--Vitter voted against the 700 Billion bailout, something that Boustany did not have the nerve to do. boustany voted with Melancon and Jefferson on this taxpayer ripoff. Nobody knows where all this money went.
5--Vitter voted against the 787 Billion Stimulus bill of 2009. Landrieu voted yea. So did Melancon.

Resident,

I agree to the extent that the media as a whole could be doing a better job informing on government.

Fox News, featuring the pretty FOX NEWS MODELS-we get made up news, aka propaganda. I know that you are going to retort that they all do that and you may be right. But, the extent that FOX NEWS does this is unprecedented in that it has injected a poison.

I would advise everyone that when you hear something on HANNITY, OREILLY, BECK, PALIN,LIMBAUGH and those PRETTY WHITE GIRL NEWS MODELS, please use the google and fact check them.

These people are pretty much making MILLIONS OF DOLLARS fomenting hate and disinformation.

RAND PAUL, SISTER SARA PALIN, SHARON ANGLE, et.al.-Why do you think these people only speak to FOX NEWS? The reason is that they do not want the public at large to delve into that NUTTINESS/CRAZINESS that they call core values.

For example, we see what happens when we elect a nut/crackpot to run the country-see BUSH/CHENEY record. - LAFAYETTE NATIVE RESIDING IN CA

Unfortunately most of the mainstream press has been co-opted by government and is now a "Praetorian Guard" to further the interests of an elite centralized corporatocracy. Democrat, Republican, liberal, conservative, are anachronisms, meaningless except in the realm of infotainment talking point media. They feed us "pseudo-events" as Daneil Boorstin would say, while issues of real importance are obscured.

Oh, every now and then the media acts as it should, like the NYT uncovering of the criminal warrantless wiretapping program, but as the faux partisan drama plays out the truth gets absorbed and voila!...warrantless wiretapping is made legal by Democrats and Obama while the media distracts us with tales of Lindsay Lohan and Quran burnings. - Resident

Resident,

I agree. Vitter needs to answer questions from the public through the media (NOT JUST FROM THE FOX TV NEWS MODELS.)

The press is one of the major checks on government. - LAFAYETTE NATIVE RESIDING IN CA

Vitter should be obligated to engage in debates, and without pre-screened questions. This is a fundamental part of democracy to engage with opponents and constituents. I'm kinda surprised ragin_cajun would think otherwise, considering his supposed devotion to good governance. Don't you think candidates should have a little unscripted time with the plebes?

I can't see a lot of difference in the stance on "issues" between Melancon and Vitter. I'm sure they would both contribute to the big government tendency of their respective party. Ragin, did you know that the current health care bill is very similar to the one proposed by Republicans after their 1994 takeover of Congress? I'm quite sure Vitter would have voted with his party then and would do the same today. - Resident

I guess, but if you want to tie yourself to a WHORE MONGERER like BITTER VITTER, I have some serious misgivings about your integrety.

Not only does he frequents PROSTITUTES but he PROMOTES his staffer MR. FURER who damm near KILL A WOMAN.

BITTER BITTER DAVID VITTER boy oh boy he's quite a CRITTER. HE PHONES HIS WHORE FROM THE SENATE FLOOR TO ARRANGE SEX WHILE HE RAILS AGAINST MEX. - LAFAYETTE NATIVE RESIDING IN CA

"I see you're pulling back on that constitutional government thing, huh."

How do you figure? I'm commenting on the story. If Vitter wants to be re-elected, I think my advice is good. Don't you?

Remember that story Eddie Murphy used to tell about how some girls have so many skeletons in the closet, that bones fly out of their mouth when they talk? That's Vitter.

Look--I never said Vitter's a great guy, or the perfect candidate, or that I even like him. All I said is that he's about 5 times better than Melancon. - ragin_cajun

ragin_cajun,

I see you're pulling back on that constitutional government thing, huh.

I agree that BITTER BITTER DAVID VITTER, ought to remain in the closet with his PROSTITUTES. This clown is not equiped to debate a man of Melancon's stature.

Let him take SISTER SARA'S path of not talking to the media so that no one see how dumb he is.

We are offering to sponser a SENATORIAL DEBATE between VITTER and the COALITION for THE INCREASE OF PROSTITUTES FEES.

Bet he attends that one!!

After hearing Democratic Congressman Charlie Melancon speak, Vitter might increase the winning margin. Of Vitter is not that great either but Melancon is pretty sad. - Krusty

"I can't see a lot of downside to it"

Uhhh....well, I can't see alot of upside to it, either. If I was Vitter's campaign manager, what I would do is lock his ass up in a closet with nothing to do but memorize his victory speech.

He's got it won right now. All he has to do is not mess this up. Every word he speaks, every reporter he talks to, is an opportunity to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. He's a fool if he debates. - ragin_cajun
