Double Social Security payments now! That way we can bankrupt the country earlier resulting the end of the Democratic Party. - Hamburger Helper

Sangisetty is right in pointing out the folly of legislators borrowing from Social Security. This is something Ron Paul says frequently.

Landry and other self-proclaimed "conservatives" are all too ready to cut citizens' benefit programs that we pay into, and give us "more freedom" by letting the Wall Street mafia get its hands on SS...but they won't even discuss the $700 billion/year of military spending and the vast network of bases we maintain overseas. Our safety is not directly proportional to military spending, and even Gates acknowledges that our presence is a main reason for "why they hate us."

So Jeff Landry, in these times of penny pinching, why are you so eager to cut your constituents' benefits but have nothing to say about our enormous military spending? - Resident

Why can't everyone be on the same retirement system as the Senators, Congressman, Federal Workers, ETC? If it is good for them, it should be good for the taxpayers who pay for their retirement!! Politicians, and government workers are actually the Royalty of this country today. If they need a raise, if they need more benefits, etc. guess what they have done. YOU ARE CORRECT: THEY GET YOUR TAXES INCREASED!! NOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?? - The Original Northsidian
