I was wondering aloud the other day, why is a college education so big of a budget drain when, in theory, tuition is supposed to cover the costs of the college education. Ole Miss and Miss. State tuition is 25% higher than UL Lafayette. U of Alabama is more than 50% higher than UL Lafayette. Univ. of Houston is almost double. And my wife would like to point out that many students go to college for free on the TOPS program regardless of need.
