Louisiana is still trying to recover from Katrina but even before that misspending and rampant social programs are bankrupting more states in this country then any other reason. The sheer number of people that are living off the government dime is more then ever. Many are not legit reasons. The coming budget cuts to higher education in Louisiana are going to hurt BUT there are other avenues the state is looking to cut spending. We don't hear about any of those. The universities do spend a lot of money on things they don't need however this rip the bandaid off approach is certain to meet with residence.
