" BUT fears of corporate land grabs and brother-in-law deals, now aren't the two actually One and the Same. Oh, guess who just acquired a BID FORM, Clue: Think of the last letter of the alphabet, follow the money/or follow your nose, its one and the same best way to get to the bottom of the sweetheart deals. - NORTHSIDIAN SHOTGUN

Noone will express shock, at takeovers of homes by The Durel & Cronys LLC, the more time Durel is in office, the nouveau riche aided by Durel have outrightly garnered every project that has become available and funded by the parish, this is an age old practice which was originated by previous Lafayette Mayors and a practice which Durel has engaged in high gear, things never change they only age badly and leave a pestilence. Eradicate the northend of Lafayette Joey's Fantasy, unsavory but that is the way politics work in Louisiana, and as I said a practice Joey has perfected. - NORTHSIDIAN SHOTGUN

The previous attempts were expropriation attempts, plain and simple. The "target" is north Lafayette as the legislation exempted the south portion of the parish as well as the vatious municipalities. The language was SOOOO BROAD and UNCONSTITUTIONALLY VAGUE, that your mother's home with an a/c window unit could have been called "blight" and taken over. Other notions like bldgs too close together, pretty much cover all of downtown with it's small lots but funny, that same situation in Waiver Ranch is protected from government theft. It should be noted that Gachassin's future developments of JDV and "heading north and northwest" (H. LaSala) will include stolen, I meant to say, Expropriated, there I go again, "adjudicated" and "blighted" properties. Greed has no satiation. Even with huge government funded (read here your taxes at work) developer incentives from HUD, and QAP "points" garnered from the city (read here local government give aways to the developer, like why was Olivier street recently paved?), it seems to not crave the appetitite of our developers. They want extremely value land (location, location, location) but offer dirt prices; not even enough to buy another home! WAKE UP DOWNTOWN and NORTH LAFAYETTE! You will be the dumping grounds of slums; built cheaply and no money for maintenance (all that goes to grease palms in the beginning). As the nation begins to control debt again (hopefully) these developments will be underfunded. The people making the money will be long gone. - realitychecks
