Who the heck is Dave Meloy? Cannot find a thing searching the internet for this "oil and gas policy consultant". Does anyone know if this guy has any credentials? His analysis of the horizontal tax exemption is remarkably weak. - Loren Scott

Actually Chamber of horrors, Mr Briggs is totally Machivellian as regards LOGA...case in point being his support of Mary Landrieu's reelection to the United States Senate. Now she may tow the line for Louisiana oil, but any state where the otherwise conservative business community throws its support to a politician who is pro-union, pro healthcare is not a state that's going to get much consideration from out of state business' wanting to relocate to sunbelt states, which is why -from an economic development/industry oriented, business friendly perspective Louisiana is and well remain a third world country and its major population centers will by and large remain towns and not cities.Particularly Lafayette. - Berdoo Angel

Mr. Briggs is a paid spokesman for his industry and, when he's doing work like this, it is the work product for which he is paid. It is solely in the interest of the industry he serves and no broader interest like, say, the public interest. In Briggs' world, better to close hospitals, restrict access to health care, close colleges, further cripple schools and not build roads than do anything that might take a single penny from the coffers of the firms that pay him so well. We know Briggs speaks for LOGA. Who speaks for Louisiana? - Chamber of horrors
