Someone give Tony Traffic another can of " Safety-Orange paint that he may doodle another great innovative traffic flow on our streets, this is Joey's boy, and this regressive manner of so-called progress... in arrears, is Joey's own design.
Why doent' anyone talk about the business' that are affected by this abortion of an intersection. It looks liked the only area of town they care about is the intersection of Camellia and Kaliste Saloom. I bet they would never "cluster %#@! that intersection. Why, because it would hurt business' and that is what it is doing at the new cluster !@#$. What say you Mighty Chamber of Commerce? - the original northsidian

If it were such a naturally great idea, he would not have to endanger himself pretending to be a traffic cop at that intersection. Trampel's time would be better spent making sure that "state" roads and highways get repaired rather than just ignoring the problem and blaming the nebulous and incomprehensible "state". Surely, it should be his job to follow up on such matters. University Av, which is the entrance to the City's draw of such things as the University, the Cajun Dome, Downtown attractions and the airport, surely, should be of great concern to Mr. T! - realitychecks

Technically speaking, Tony and several others are encouraging motorist to break the law by giving this advice:
"and if Tramel is the guy behind them, he’ll let them know. “I love to honk at people when they don’t comply with rules like that,” he says. “That’s me.”

LOUISIANA REVISED STATUTE
RS 32:351

§351. Horns and warning devices

The driver of a motor vehicle shall, when reasonably necessary to ensure safe operation, give audible warning with his horn, but shall not otherwise use such horn when upon a highway of this state.

It's NOT an emergency just cuz Tony is irritated with someone!! - easy money

""Violators of the Law""" That is funny coming from a man with a radar detector on the dash of his car. What do you say about that Tony?

Well, I say great job tony, however, I m sure it was a temporary glitch, when I waited in the left turn lane, which seemed, an eternity, and I along with 3 other motorist, had "enough", and decided to turn right instead. My polite fellow neighbors, in the next right lanes, allowed us to turn,,,and nobody was hurt, and we didn't get that middle finger sighn!! - Who's on First?

I applaud Tony's efforts. His ability to "think out the box" is what Lafayette has needed for some time. The fact of the matter is that traffic is only getting worse and the money available to build mega projects to handle our traffic is just not there. Tony's ability to take what we have and make things more efficient is what we need. Roundabouts, funny how so many people balked at the idea, but go look in Youngsville and all throughout Lafayette where they exist, how well are they working? Great says 99.9% of the people. Bottom line, if people want to complain, they can take different routes around these great designs, and lets see how much they complain then. Are all design perfect, no, but you have to experiment to be at the cutting edge. - great job

Hats off to Tony. I travel the intersection daily, and have noticed greatly reduced traffic backup on Johnston Street, even at 5pm. So far so good. - Southsider

First of all why do these people who are calling Tony Tramel names do not add their names to it. I want to thank Tony for his great ideas to make Lafayette safer. Keep up the good work. You have a great vision. - Les Josa

"Tony is willing to take chances and try new things. I realize that's a foreign concept to many but it's what we need, and he's a credit to our city"

Foreign Concept? Mexican Engineering on this intersection! That's what the article says. Why take chances, go with proven solutions. Those raised curbs are CRAZY- Someone drinking tequila? Or smoking? - Compassionate One

I applaud Tony Tramel for his efforts to help drivers drive better. He's got his work cut out for him. Between the texters and the aggressive drivers in this city, driving safely is a challenge.

I appreciate the effort at increasing flow at Camellia/Johnston, but those raised concrete curbs have me perplexed. What's going to happen when some idiot speeds up to the intersection and hits one of those curbs? I'm imagining a spectacular flip, maybe landing on a car or two... - Resident
