Right on Ladies! We should have had 100,000 ladies marching though. There is a Republican assault on women rights---these ignorant Republicans wish to push our ladies back in whoredom and servitude by denying them access to proper health over their own bodies. Republican men are nasty brutes!

We should be leading the nation in these set of Rights, since we are a French polite and civil society! - Gaius Cilnius Maecenas

Like I said on facebook, Christina, you seem to have skewed the facts a bit.
Planned Parenthood had nothing to do with the underage sex scandal nonsense, and were the ones that reported it. sooo... - Hailey

The "Walk for Choice" rallies were pretty pathetic nationwide. Planned Parenthood can't even seem to get the usual Rent a Rabble astroturfers to come back them anymore. People are just opposed to helping creeps pimp underage girls, especially with our tax dollars. - Christina Dunigan

No one ever implied that we were on the same level as those who receive such honors. Again, bravery comes in many forms. One of the definitions of bravery is "Courage, also known as bravery, fortitude, will, and intrepidity, is the ability to confront fear, pain, risk/danger, uncertainty, or intimidation." When the march was being created, they said they were afraid that there wouldn't be a decent turn out. They were afraid that pro-lifers would come and scare away the few that may have showed up. I personally was afraid of what could happen if there were pro-lifers there and things got heated. Not to mention we probably would have been very outnumbered if they had decided to show up. But I sucked it up and went because I believe in this cause and I wanted to show my support.

And, just for the record, I don't watch MSNBC. My view on conservatives comes from living in this area for most of my life, being around my family (who are all conservative) and all of whom spent that day bashing me for being a "baby murderer".

I'm sure when they made the sign they didn't think "yeah! this is for those immature guys who have no valid argument so that they can still make a negative comment towards us!" This entire subject is about our body and our right to decide what to do with it.

Again, "Soop", we never attempted at invalidating the men/women that have and are fighting for our country. We never implied that we should be given medals for our bravery, because we know that what we did was small. But considering where we live and what we were walking for, it was HUGE and it did require a bit of bravery. - Hailey

Yes Hailey, I think you all should get the congressional medal of honor for your bravery ... for walking down the street. Despite what they tell you constantly on MSNBC, most conservatives are decent folks interested in honest debate. Did you really think there was a chance you would be harmed?

And as for the people complaining about the sexual comments ... take another look at the one main sign that is legible in the picture above ... by using sexual innuendo on their "brave" posters, these "brave" marchers were the ones that bravely invited these "brave" comments.

All the "brave" best,

Soop, a "brave" American - Soop.

Like I have said before. The poor get abortions, the rich send their daughters to visit "Taunt Mae Mae" for a few months in California. Give ma a frickin' break! Hypocrisy is alive and well in our little country town!!

What we did that day was rather brave. Going out into a mostly conservative community to protest something that most conservatives agree with? I'd call that rather brave, considering the sometimes physical reactions that pro-lifers tend to have.

Bravery comes in different forms. Someone referring to us as brave isn't discrediting any of the soliders of WWII and it's preposterous for you to even imply that. - Hailey

I think it is despicable and a low blow to reference these women's looks. What does fighting for what you believe in have to do with what you look like? Planned Parenthood is an essential establishment for many women and especially younger females. They offer many services for women's health, taking away their funding hurts their chance to be able to make sure girls and women without the means can take care of their bodies. - Sally

Brave? Did I read that correctly? These women are brave? For buying posterboard, writing on it and then walking down the sidewalk? That is what qualifies as brave these days?

So what are the guys who scaled the white cliffs of Dover to free a continent from Hitler? They are just brave too?

All the best,

Soop - Soop.

written by holeinthedonut8 "EXXON paid ZERO in income tax last year...Just saying"

---------------------

It’s worth noting that Exxon records $7.7 billion in other taxes in the U.S. (sales, property, excise, etc) and more than $50 billion of other taxes and duties paid overseas in 2009.

holeinthedonut8, your sources came from a 2009 article which failed to give the complete story. Nevertheless, what does Exxon have to do with Planned Parenthood? - James Melancon

Using the Exxon-Mobil argument is absurd, ignorant at best.

First, smaller, independent E&P companies develop roughly 90% of the oil & gas wells in the U.S. Those are the oil & gas companies, like PetroQuest and Stone Energy in Lafayette, which drive our local economy and pay significant amounts of taxes.

Second, PolitFact easily dismantles the leftist propaganda of Exxon Mobil paying no taxes.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2010/dec/10/bernie-s/bernie-sanders-filibuster-exxon-mobil/

Also, multi-nationals like Exxon and GE classify their headquarters these days as an overseas location for tax purposes. But again, Exxon-Mobil does not represent the oil & gas industry here in the U.S. - RCajunrunner

Citations for the comment about who pays taxes: http://www.ldsfreedomforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=16408&p=180286

"- EXXON-MOBIL: The oil giant uses offshore subsidiaries in the Caribbean to avoid paying taxes in the United States. Although Exxon-Mobil paid $15 billion in taxes in 2009, not a penny of those taxes went to the American Treasury. This was the same year that the company overtook Wal-Mart in the Fortune 500. Meanwhile the total compensation of Exxon-Mobil’s CEO the same year was over $29,000,000." - holeinthedonut8

Then maybe we should remove tax-exempt status of these NGOs?

Just saying.

By the way, how much in taxes and funds to government do oil companies contribute into the coffers? - RCajunrunner

Our society "subsidizes" NGO's for the same reason they give money and grants and huge gigantic public property to the oil companies. Good for business.

Simple..Get over the idea NGO somehow is less relevant and worthy than the other corporate sugartitsuckers you support.

I think that there is a massive issue in our priorities at the moment. Would you rather money go towards providing contraceptives, cancer screenings and other healthcare services or so the army can sponsor a car in nascar?

I believe that until the government is willing to provide us with actual reasonably priced healthcare, they shouldn't cut funding to the few places that provide that for us. - Hailey

Why do you believe the taxpayers should subsidize the salaries and operations of Planned Parenthood, or any other NGO, especially considering they already receive tax-exempt status? - RCajunrunner

Tuggums OR ANYONE ELSE INTERESTED- there is a letter writing meeting for Planned Parenthood tonight! Send me an email if you're interested in attending and I'll give you the location.
kryowsiossu@dunflimblag.mailexpire.com (temporary email)

I'm proud to have been a member of this group! I hope that in the upcoming events we'll have more people join us. It's disappointing to see that the commenters here couldn't stick to the main issue and had to resort to body hate. The human body is a beautiful thing. Ignorance, however, is not. - Leah
