Stalin had his 5-years plans and Mao his great leap forward. Needless to say, things did not work out too well. Government planning is an oxymoron and a sin in itself. - James Melancon

“Under duress from Durel, the council has been squirreling away in the last two budgets the $1.2 million the plan is expected to cost.”

How much of the $1.2 million is “squirreled away” from the City of Lafayette tax collections? How much from the Parish tax collections? How much is from each of the towns of Broussard, Scott, Carencro, Duson and Youngsville tax collections?

And are the separate legal jurisdictions of Broussard, Scott, Carencro, Duson and Youngsville required to follow, pay for, or adopt the “comprehensive master plan”?

And just what geographical boundaries is this “comprehensive master plan” being developed for?

ragin_cajun "Because everyone IN TOWN is too stupid to grasp the vision. As Walter has opined right here, not enough of us "get it. Joey Durel gets it".

Thanks ragin. "It" is a subject similar to what "is" "is" as explained by Bill Clinton. - Cajun Yodeler

"How come experts are always from out-of-town?"

Because everyone IN TOWN is too stupid to grasp the vision. As Walter has opined right here, not enough of us "get it. Joey Durel gets it".

It's really that simple. - ragin_cajun

How come experts are always from out-of-town? And the further away the smarter they are? - Cajun Yodeler

If I know human nature, no one is going to follow this "master plan." It will sit on a shelf unused, gathering dust, as it becomes less and less relevant for each successive city-parish administration. Not to mention my view that New Urbanism is a sham that smackes of soft fascism. - Voight
