Well written BoFred. However, one cannot so easily separate 'capitalism' from 'governmental oversight.' Both are required for a smooth functioning of tolerable civic life.

Furthermore, I applaud "Anti-Tea Party" sentiments. The TPL does not know what it wants. It merely desires to destroy something or someone in order to satisfy its anger, fear and pain induced by having led an immoral, worthless life. This group merely follows its belly and genitals---constantly stirring up confusion to aid chaos; thus giving itself a reason to lie, steal and cheat further from its fellow man. - Gaius Cilnius Maecenas

Let capitalism take its course. I have no problem with Mr. Stewart developing whatever he wants & I wish him well. I did not approve of the TIF. Don't call me names for it. I have the right to complain & question the proposal & what happens for other developers. Let Laf govt proceed as they normally do with new construction. I am not a member, nor can I see myself ever being a member of the "tea party". There is a big group of people out here who aren't happy with any of the parties out here, including the new one. - BoFred

The social trash [TPL] loves to play the victim. As usual, they hide behind the vocable "fact." This is Latin, past participle from "facere", 'factum' "that which has been done." The dolts did not permit Dr. Stewart to proceed with his sensible real estate investment structure. With low interest rates, non-performing bonds, this would have been an ideal opportunity for an investment structure.

Social trash will always cut off their nose to despite their face. The Tea Party of Lafayette has too long of a nose, and too ugly of a face. - Gaius Cilnius Maecenas

" Tea Party of Lafayette trashed the project " I disagree. The TEA Party of Lafayette raised very valid concerns about the government's role in private real estate development, and ASKED QUESTIONS about the TIF. The TEA Party actually never objected to the project at all.

The only person appealing to mob panic is YOU. Get your facts straight. Also, it is perfectly valid to infer that " Our notables " means people, so my assumption that it was an "anybody" that you referred to is sensible. - ragin_cajun

Durel supported this TIF fiasco and in his typical fashion thought that anyone who was against it was uninformed at best, and really stupid. The question is, "What did Durel know and when did he know it?" This question applies across the board, but certainly as to Stewart's not owning the land he claimed to own. "What did Durel and Gotreaux know and when did they know it?" - POLITICAL OBSERVER

French Roman Catholic Cultral instituitions, GA, if that is your only link to self-pride, a murderous, terrorizing, organization killing and maiming men, women, and children, all in the name of religion by misfit, sadist popes, and bishops, and a few thousand pedophiile priests, you ain't got no game, dolt.
Ragin Cajun [sic] errs in his brief assertion above. The dolts calling themselves the Tea Party of Lafayette trashed the project [it was a 'something' not an 'anybody'] by appealing to mob panic with the usual cries of nonsensical governmental tyranny! - Gaius Cilnius Maecenas

I amsad that this project has been derailed by harum-scarum guttersnipes in the Tea Party of Lafayette. It would have proved a mecca for wealthy tourists and well-heeled business personalities coming to our city.

Now all we have are the trashy looking third-world hotels that dot our nasty looking interstates and downtown Lafayette.

This is not how you grow a great "small" city!

When we grow afraid to label fools as "idiots" (a most kind sobriquet by Dr. Stewart), and, what is even worse, must pander to these rabble-rousing troublemakers---then we have lost our civic 'nobilitas'! Our notables are vulgarly trashed by malcontents, thieves, and common cheats parading themselves as the "Tea Party of Lafayette." It is a lamentable day for our proud French Roman Catholic cultural institutions! - Gaius Cilnius Maecenas

Anyone who has known Greg Gothreaux can see the change in the man, he is always front and center at the trough and has never been on the con side of a project of Jodu'nt's ( Or, I should say, "has always been on the con side of the administrations, under the table dealings of self promotion of their...selves and their cronys behalf ). Thats Lafayette, Greg, continue to follow the dangling carrot, you may receive an additional job description with an added pay check and a record four retirement checks....... - Northsidian Shotgun

This is a strong point against TIFs. A TIF is government intervention in favor a special interest; giving financial advantage of one group over another. All TIFs need to be eliminated. - James Melancon
