The State lost a Congressman because our population did not keep up with the rest of the country. But the area of the state that LOST population - North Louisiana - was protected, whereas the area of the state that GAINED population - South Louisiana - has to lose one of its Congressmen. What a joke. The title of your article could have been "North Louisiana Protection Plan...". - LCG

The ways I looks at it, the Southwest district is the only one that has a lick of geographic and cultural continuity and affinity, the rest of these are nonsense. The legislature needs to be slapped by DOJ to fix this. The earlier plan for the I-20 district, like the I-10 district is a must. All of CENLA plus some fringes should be the remainder. But then, just look at the Southeast. What a disaster. This is a rightwing Republican preservation plan. - Unempirical Observer

It is just plain crazy that Monroe got its "own" district. Monroe in same district as Opelousas and Washington Parish?! All because the Legislature didn't want to put Fleming and Rodney in the same district.

All the best,

Soop - Soop.

Landry vs. Boustany. That's pretty much what everybody has been thinking would happen for a while, isn't it? - ragin_cajun
