@deadeye based on your medical history how can you possibly be against a patient's right to choose?

] Although the medical application of cannabis is not endorsed by the American Society of Ophthalmology [5] or the Institute of Medicine, and while the exact mechanism is not thoroughly understood, at least some physicians have the vision f Lester Grinspoon, M.D., who testified before Congress in 1977, “Cannabis does not cure the disease, but it can retard the progressive loss of sight when conventional medication fails and surgery is too dangerous.” [6]

@ragin: Yes, cannabis consumption is good for you, it is perhaps the most perfect food on Earth. This according to your good friends at Fox News:

Anandamide (... an endogenous cannabinoid) plays a role in proper appetite, feelings of pleasure and well-being, and memory. Interestingly, cannabis also affects these same functions. Cannabis has been used successfully to treat migraine, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome and glaucoma. So here is the seventy-four thousand dollar question. Does cannabis simply relieve these diseases to varying degrees, or is cannabis actually a medical replacement in cases of deficient anandamide?

At least one author, medical doctor Ethan Russo, believes in the possibility of endocanabinoid deficiency, and suggests that such a deficiency might actually be a significant cause of (...) health problems. His paper "Clinical Cannabinoid Deficiency," published in Neuroendocrinology Lettersin 2004, delved deeply into the various ways that cannabinoids function in the body, and how a deficiency in cannabinoids can lead to a broad range of diseases. Since the publication of that paper, a number of studies have further confirmed the effectiveness of cannabis for many health disorders.
The idea of clinical cannabinoid deficiency opens the door to cannabis consumption as an effective medical approach to relief of various types of pain, restoration of appetite in cases in which appetite is compromised, improved visual health in cases of glaucoma, and improved sense of well being among patients suffering from a broad variety of mood disorders. [don't forget the NIH recently published a review of cannabinoid's anticancer effects] As state and local laws mutate and change in favor of greater tolerance, perhaps cannabis will find it's proper place in the home medicine chest.

Marijuana is illegal, and the AMA is lobbying the legislator to remain against the legalizing of marijuana, for legalizing marijuana will kill the Medical Industry, the Pharmaceutical Companies, and cause an overnight rush by Herbalist and Holiastic Healers to obtain medical licenses from the government to "finally truly help people with diseases to heal and/or to be cured, the Medical Profession would find their services no longer required, in such people could either be cured or die comfortable and painlessly..... - TOKEALOTA

You are totally against the legalization of marijuana (because you believed the lies told to you by the "just say no" industry. You know, the one supported by drug companies and the prison industry)

And now you're blind. Sucks to be you.

Maybe if more people based their opinions on facts and research and less on stupid slogans, then you wouldn't be blind.

Of course it's kind of hard when idiots continue to spread irrelevant statements like the one in your post.

Let me cue you in on something.... If today's pot is stronger than "grandpa's" pot, that only means you need to smoke less of it to get the same effect. So basically, it's healther than it was before. - @ deadeye

Just a few yrs ago, I had an eye surgery that cost me the use of most of my eye & I now have a cataract as a result of it. I had a glaucoma attack & tried many medications to control it, but medicinal marijuan was not a possibility. I know soon I will not be able to drive anymore for the loss of sight. I sure wish I could have taken a pill & the cash I spent on different med & procedures could have gone to better use. I AM TOTALLY AGAINST THE LEGALIZATION OF MARIJUANA & TODAY'S POT IS NOT YOUR GRANDPA'S POT!!!! But I'm torn by the argument. I ALSO HATE TO SEE A BUNCH OF CRIMINALS GETTING RICH, DOPE COMING IN FROM MEXICO, AND PEOPLE DIEING from execution by MEXICAN DRUG CARTELS.... - DeadEye

ragin cajun: grab a bong, do your research, and stop believing the lies. recent studies show that heavily concentrated thc oil cures cancer and cbd oil regresses tumors with immaculate results. besides it being basically a CURE ALL MEDICINE. cannabis is safer than coffee, peanuts, and aspirin. the human body cannot be allergic to thc and every human has an 'endocannabinoid system' which maintains homeostasis in your body. thc is nearly genetically identical to the chemical released from this endocannabinoid system.

Marijuana is the safest drug with actual benefits for the user as opposed to alcohol which is dangerous, causes addiction, birth defects, and affects literally every organ in the body. Groups are organizing all over the country to speak their minds on reforming pot laws. I drew up a very cool poster for the cause which you can check out on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/01/vote-teapot-2011.html Drop in and let me know what you think! - Brandt Hardin
