Run Tara Run. Unless Louisiana is a lot different from Georgia you already have a bloc vote--your fellow special educators plus special ed students (18-22) and parents. And you should be getting the vote of all teachers. The way Bobby has treated teachers, both K-12 and Higher Ed. should me that he will get nothing from teachers. Then there are the poor, African-Americans, people who work for non-profits, disabled people and Democrats.

Do the best you can my sister. We toppled Roy Barnes in Georgia when he took our paras, tenure, and raises and talked about us badly on TV and we can lose King Bobby too. - twinkie1cat

I congratulate Mrs. Hollis on her bid for office. She is taking a stance when many complain without action. I would hope that Mrs. Hollis broadens her view to include more than education. Many other state funded programs and agencies have also been hit hard by the current administration. Lets see change for all not just for few. - K

I would like to thank The Independent Weekly for finding my story compelling enough to feature on your website. I would also like to thank all of those who have written such insightful comments on the critical matters facing Louisiana, and the progressive ideas for making this state better. I would like to apologize as an educator for the mistakes found on my website, this has been an enormous undertaking. With rapidly building support from the community, citizens and organizations across the state, I hope you will find my website factually accurate and free of mistakes as the campaign continues. This will be a learning process, one in which I hope we can focus on the true issues that Louisiana is up against. Why has Jindal opposed applying ethics and transparency laws to the Office of the Governor, the Division of Administration and the Executive Branch agencies? He actively opposes efforts to gain access to documents regarding the Executive branch and the Governor‘s Office. He flip-flopped on the use of ‘one time money’. He opposed HR 27, to require a 2/3 vote for the use of excess one-time money in the budget. He has been an epic failure on K-12 education, cutting teachers in nearly every parish, and reducing the funding for higher education, pre-literacy programs, special education, and adult education programs. Let us not overlook his frequent absence from the state at such a critical time. It is easy to see that many of us our disgusted and cynical about the possibility of making changes in Baton Rouge, but I believe that changes are needed, and that together we can make those changes a reality. - Tara Hollis

I appreciate her willingness to try to and make a difference, however, I would think that someone with a masters in Education would at least proof read their website for grammatical errors prior to posting online for the world to see. It's not very encouraging to see someone with a Masters in Education, hoping to make educational reform, publish online material that is grammatically incorrect. Don't mean to sound negative or critical, just an observation. - Lisa Jones

I predict Ms Hollis will become our first "Female President, of the Ignited States after serving 1 term as Governor of Louisiana, she will take this state to the pinnacle of educational supremacy, "If anyone can do it, it will be some one who has had her face rubbed in the foulest unrewarding educational system in the nation, I say she will take names,
and kick a_ _.Bye Bye Punjabye, the raft is sinking,"Jump Rats. - Psychic Lama

Sounds to me like she needs an education. Oh, wait, she's a democrat - pouring money that you don't have into something that doesn't work well makes sense to her. - KnowNoBetter
