Education and healthcare in Louisiana is already cut to the bone. Bring back the Stelly Tax Plan -- I'd rather pay a little more in taxes than continue to gut the things in this state of crucial importance. By the way, Marionneaux is the same legislature who tried to make English the official language of the state of Louisiana . . . despite the fact that he is obviously of French heritage (remember being punished for speaking French, anyone?) and that the Louisiana state constitution guarantees linguistic plurality and that French is recognized as one of the state's official languages.
