I think looking at the tax code, possibly repealing the state income tax is a great idea...AT SOME LATER DATE!!!!

How about they cut spending and pass a balanced budget?! No tax increases. No tax cuts. Cut spending and pass a budget. If they can't do that, then there's no reason to even have a legislature. Just let the Executive Branch collect the taxes and spend it as it sees fit as it goes along. That's what's gonna happen without a budget anyway.

I suspect this goofy proposal to eleminate state income tax is directed toward someone in Upper Louisiana who's in line to collect millions and zillions in natural gas money. Other than that, it makes NO SENSE and the general public does not trust Baton Rouge. If their lips are moving, their lying... We really believe we're going to suffer from this and the rich will pay even less than they do now. Its time to stop this foolishness and get down to some real busines to make this state better. - Morrow

>INCREASE TAXES

What are you talking about? No one is suggesting a tax increase. Did you even read the article? What is being suggested is an end to all state income taxes.

Why doesn't someone demand of Sen. Marionneaux how the state will pay for anything without taxes? How will the state fill potholes, for example? Seriously. How will the state buy the asphalt, how will it pay the workers who pour the asphalt, how will it afford the truck that carries the asphalt and the truck that carries the workers to the site to pour the asphalt? Even if the state paid a private firm to do this instead of the DOTD, where is the money to come from to do this, since, after all, the private firm still has to pay for the asphalt, the workers, transportation of the workers and asphalt, etc. And this is just one example: What about healthcare, public education, state police, state militia, the state library system, etc., etc., etc. - Farrow
