Can we address the most important issue here, while many people willingly want to speak with the press, they may be informed by the police not to speak with the press so that some things do not get misconstrued-sometimes that can happen.

A young man full of life had his life cut short by a brutal and uncomprehensible "MURDER". Can we find out what happened and why so the animals involved can be prosecuted.

Sometimes people are doing the backstroke in a toilet bowl and then they reach out, this young man reached out. Can we help get this family justice?

Hows that for free speach. God Bless the kayaker and God Bless all of the Sonnier Family.

Can the news media help this family??, after all it made quick news that one of the suspects in this heinous crime will not face charges for a knife fight at a night club in 2007 as if that will make him look like an "all around do gooder".........and I could just go on!

Rajun_Cajun, 'a little' just seemed funnier to me for some reason. Glad to hear you have a thick ball-carrying case, Walter. Northsidian Shotgun, I don't think a pisch-nook or a flick in the balls is ever endearing. You do make me laugh out loud on almost every post, though. - Dudley E. LaBauve, III

You Pilgrims must be very hard up, for no-one speaks so much in sexual tones as you coullies, guys like you talk in a sexual vein veiling the fact that you don't get any, Po-Bet, " The Knights of The Circle-Jerk Table, HAH ! And by the way, its "pisch-nook not flick, flick would be in an endearing manner.......
WAL-Man, Wine is fine
But, really not online
And if your skin is so thick
I'd say you'll welcome the flick
But, should you really want a kick
Why'nt you just flick your bic
You and the other Mo-FO'S
Could attain your main goals
Form a circle ring your bell
Pass the towel around Pell-Mell
And its fine to drink some wine
When you are with your own kind

"flicked you in the balls a little"

A little or a lot makes no difference, still hurts the same...it's like a "little pregnant" - ragin_cajun

"I've no idea how to go through server logs" It's A LOT easier than it sounds. I'll tell you all about it (anonymously of course) if you're interested...which you're probably not. It's not totally conclusive, but you can easily verify that me and Get Over It posted from two different IP addresses, and thus are two different people.

"some disgruntled crank " C'mon Walter. Don't talk about my peeps like that. You trying to start a culture war or something?

"As for "Wal-man," let's just say I got on-line on wine." No problem, I totally understand that...:) I'll even strike it from the record.

I have to say, I'm very impressed that you're a hard-smoking, hard-drinking libertine. In the Hemingway tradition....or the Dorothy Parker tradition? :) - ragin_cajun

ragin,
I've no idea how to go through server logs and I'm pretty sure that digital fingerprints are not readily apparent when folks like yourself post anonymously and said comments must go through a moderator.
I assumed "Get Over It, IND" was just some disgruntled crank and not you. That's still my assumption.

Walter, I want you to go through the server logs and verify for everyone that "Get Over It, IND" is a different person than I am:) I don't want to be accused of posting twice under different pseudonyms to pump myself up on these boards:) I DO actually have supporters, and my worldview IS held by MANY people out there besides me. Our Republic is not lost, yet.

Oh..and, uh....the "Wal-man"? That's gonna come back to haunt you :)

Geez "Get over it," the semicolon and closed parentheses at the end of my last comment signifies a wink, as in "kidding bro." Please, at your earliest convenience, take your meds and stop hating on the Wal-man. - Walter Pierce

Well, that's because you're seeing me write here, somewhat anonymously, in character, using a "nom de plume", etc. But in my professional life, I don't speak to reporters unless I see some evidence in print of their ability to express nuanced positions in a clear and unbiased way. Speaking with reporters is incredibly risky and I typically try to avoid it.

Commenting on opinion pieces on the web using a pseudonym...that's not really speaking to the press, now, is it? Once again, there's confusion over what is opinion and what is news?? ;) - ragin_cajun

Maybe law enforcement can't prohibit witnesses from talking to the press...but is there anything that says law enforcement can't politely ask witnesses to refrain from speaking to the press for any of a number of different reasons? This may come as a shock to the staff of theIND, but there are MANY people who don't LIKE the press, don't trust them to tell the truth, and don't WANT to speak with them. MANY people would much prefer to cooperate with law enforcement than with the press.

If the press would quit acting like political operatives, and quit throwing "free press" tantrums everytime they don't get what they want, maybe that attitude would change. But, based on what I read here, I don't hold out much hope for change. - ragin_cajun

I have to admit, if I found a body & I learned it was a murder victim, probably dumped for gators to get rid of, and the law enforcement agency asked me not to speak to the media - just yet - I'd probably have no problem with that. I would want to give that agency every opportunity to solve the case. If it were me, I don't believe MY story of what I did, what I saw, would be the most important immediate concern. I saw the man on TV & I didn't get the impression he was fearful of law enforcement or that he was FORBIDDEN to give details. I got the impression he was disturbed & concerned the victim have every opportunity to have justice. I just didn't get the impression this was a "right to speak" issue, but one of concern by a witness to preserve the initial integrity of the case. - BoFred
