I know Elbert lee and I have to agree with most of the post here. He is a horrible Representative of the people. I use to think that he was more inclined to help the more affluent and white population but he does not care about them either. He does not return calls, he lies and only cares about a dollar. He does not care about education and the reason he is receiving an award at Angola because he cares more about building jails than schools. i don't believe he did one thing to fight for civil rights. What a waste - Knowledge

To "Just Saying":
Do your homework, buddy. Guillory's Seattle episode was reported in this Ind cover story from a couple of years ago:

Also,
The story reads he was asked to leave Southern University because of his advocacy of equal rights. Seriously!? He was asked to leave a HBCU because of his fight for equality!Does that not sound insane to anyone but me! How about the real reason? - Just Saying

Why hasn't Leslie and gang done "investigative journalism" on this one! Hypocrisy at its best. Don't want to ruffle your "Tom's" feathers I guess! - Just Saying

Judging by the comments here, looks like Cravins Clan is going to pull back all the stops to get back THEIR Senate seat. Dontcha know they're the Opelousas royalty? How dare someone else take their Senate seat! - Jimmaaayyyy!

The only reason that various elected officials endorsed Guillory is simply because he was the much lesser of two evils. He was supported because the entire region did not want the puppet wife of Don Cravins, Pat, elected to the senate seat. Elbert Guillory, though he is much less than what is to be expected from an elected official, the consensus was that it would be worse had Pat Cravins been elected. That consensus is now being openly debated. - Paul Orvis

Look at all of Guillory's past, present, proposed and passed legislation. The vast, and I mean vast, majority of his legislation deals with expanding the rights and privledges of convicted criminals and convicted criminals who still imprisoned. This person is very intelligent and manipulative. Elbert Guillory serves no purpose but his own self serving agenda. Phone calls from constituents to his office are not returned and he does as little as possible for his constituents unless they are convicted felons. The only reason he is lending his name to the OHA fiasco is because he wants his share of the positive publicity garnered by Rickey Hardy. This sham of a elected official actually believes that he is a stateman. Read the truth about this character named Elber Guillory. See the above post for the links. AND, they are just the tip of the iceberg. - Da truth!

What a laugh! This is the most unethical, disrepectful, selfcentered, and unoutstanding man in the state. He is a 100% con artist and should be receiving honors for his ability to con.

How can someone who lies, cheats, be unfaithful while married, fabricate false evidence and engage in unethical behavior, be considered for an honor dealing with law enforcement, judiciary, and criminal justice ethics?

Instead of being inducted AT Angola, he should be behind bars IN Angola.

Yes, he attended several colleges, including New York Theological Seminary - and lives a life exactly the opposite of what he learned - unethical and unchristian.
