ARROGRANT AARON, With all "DUE RESPECT, Errorless Arrogrant Aaron, you are so correct, I cannot pretend to be, nor do I care to be a limited hindered vocal journalist, I have no Advertisers to stroke nor have I ever desired to bend or assume the prone position and at this time I'll take center stage and say that it is a godsend gift to all of us that the Indy is unteetered, unhobbled and willing to publish their uncovered antics of the powers that be, that being our esteemless career politicians who are yoked to the puppetmeisters, who are profiting from every tax-payer funded project, and in return finance the election re-runs of every do-nothing, who provides an open-end cookie jar for their under the table benefactors, yes it is quite nice to give an opinion or downright tell it like it is, and not sweat the advertisers, The Daily Advertiser is a mere shadow of itself from years past, their coverups of illegal goings on by past administrations is what prompted Mr. Steve Mays, and company to give the public a newspaper that would give the public all that the Daily Advertiser and The Times Catalog would not dare to publish in fear of losing an advertiser, with its sugar coated storys and factless drivel of Ribbon cuttings and Social Sorority storylines which ended in the middle of paragraphs finally saw its well deserved end. The American way of life in which the unleashed dog eats the leased dog, is alive and thriving. And, I WILL tell it as seen, without comp, or fear.
Aaron, you always make a fine point, ya just always miss the mother lode, and "AGAIN, your comments while well verbalistically melded, leaves you standing quite alone, you are a good crusader, you just miss the line...
You do know that attitudes akin the attitude you display which condones the unleashed dog eating the leashed dog, is the main reason, which caused us to lose the Vietnam War..... - NORTHSIDIAN SHOTGUN

My final note on this matter. There will be someone running against this dead beat councilman. I am expecting everyone in district 3 to show up and do the right thing. Let's make a statement this fall and show everyone just how educated district 3 is by voting Brandon Shelvin out of office. He is in panic mode by posting signs in the district in the same area and not in peoples yards. He is again preying on the poor by posting these signs in low income areas. We have to educate all of our friends and we must let them know how important it is for our district. Start the chant now Brandon must Go! Brandon must GO! Brandon must Go! Keep it coming. - Because I know

There are dozens of school supply drives going on in the parish. The children will get their supplies. I recommend the middle class parents, with both parents working, the ones paying for their supplies, I recommmend you send your child's supplies ONE AT A TIME! Well, maybe 2 pencils at a time and a note telling the teacher you will send more supplies as your child needs it. I really resent Mr. Shelvin not giving the voters in his district any credit for intelligence. He insults them by this school drive dog and pony show to distract them from the manner in which he has served. DID MR SHELVIN TAKE A BIG INCREASE IN PAY DURING HIS FIRST YEAR IN OFFICE??? The district deserves better. - Hope

Used car salesman sold out the district and the rights of property owners to people not living in his district but who will make a fortune there. A skilled politician would have brokered a deal between developers and his voting constituents.

Shelvin is a bad name and representative of the young in politics, he hasn't done anything but publicly appear and make arrogant noise. What will you do for the people and when will you begin working towards that. We need leadership and someone who can do for himself first before representing his community. Does Shelvin have a job other than selling out the community, Has he ever had a job and will he ever be able to hold a real job other than politicing his way to the jailhouse. The people don't respect you Shelvin, you are a true falsehood and fairytale that is not productive for the citizens of District 3. Let the work you have done speak for you. Nothing, stop being a hater and take care of your business first. - Bobby C.

Queenbee,

It seems some at The Ind feel the public should know all no matter what, so they have no compunction to get in the gutter with their targets by using the baser tactics of their profession in order to decry the baser tactics of their target.

Heather Miller's reported trespassing and peeking into windows, if true, comes to mind. (Is that true Heather?) The limitless haranguing and name-calling of Gachassin is another. It's tabloid journalism. The whole "THE IND WILL GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS!!" attitude is funny as hell to me. So over the top.

Turk and Miller either can't write, or they choose not to write seriously. They've done a hell of a job in some cases of researching extremely important matters, especially the Shelvin matter. But then they fail in its presentation. Their subjects deserve more somber and balanced writing. Reading them is like reading a thoughtful novel like "Les Miserable" but as re-imagined by Jerry Springer. It can be that absurd at times.

I do find it entertaining, though. Over-the-top tabloid journalism is my one gutter vice. A part of me hopes they change nothing.

Good point about Angel Point. I know that Greg has a hand in that. But the one to watch is the new Destiny of Faith Chuch that will be built across from Alice Boucher Elementary School. There has been some talk that Gachassin is securing funds for that as well. You see the pastor, Brandon and Greg have been seen together talking about the hood. There is someone out there that gives a dam that can take care of these crooks. Also, I am demanding a follow up on the fee that Brandon owes the ethics board. What is the deal with that. I also want his finacial statement for his re-election published. Thank you - Because I know

Shotgun, props for the awesome "Arrogant Aaron" alliteration. Taste of my own medicine, eh? Nice!

I'm not asking for "fair play", however, as you state. I'm asking for "better journalism".

I'm not "sugarcoating" anything, either, as you wrote. I stated I will not be voting for Shelvin, and a lot of it has to do with what The Ind has reported. They have provided a valuable service. What I object to, again, is the arrogant tone of The Ind, e.g. snide asides that are superfulous to their arguments and juvenile journalistic paybacks that should only be seen in campus newspapers. It not only adds nothing to their arguments, it injures them. It also invites nasty billboards about their employees that someone like me, who sees the mean-spritiedness of this paper, laughs at every time I pass one.

But this is the type of paper they want to be and this is the type of journalism they wish to trade in. It's very entertaining, I'll admit, but it could be much more effective if the articles written by Tempestuous Turk and Hysterical Heather were done in a more professional manner. That's all I'm saying.

I enjoy reading your posts shotgun, at least the ones I can figure out! They're caustic and funny. But you aren't a professional journalist so you can say whatever the heck you feel like in your posts. Journalists have a bigger responsibility. Even when editorializing. These guys here don't see that. - Aaron

Wow, Brandon, Gregg Gachassin, John Ford what a combination. All of them are taker and not givers. Gregg does not care about the character of the people he deals with. Someone needs to check into Angel Point the John Ford ,Gregg Gachassin helping the poor or should I say helping themselves. Greed is not a good thing. It is evil and these people wrote the book on it. - Pawn in the game of life

Shelpin' has done nothing for these folks in the last 3 years. Sheep to slaughter and pretending they not the butchers! Might as well put out big signs, "this area all for sale real cheap!" with a little scroll at the bottom saying "if they don't sell for cheap, Durel will steal it!" Gifts for the children while the grandparents are being kicked out of their homes! Could also be a sign that Shelvin himself is for sale. "My voters are too poor to pay my bills for me so outsiders come in and buy me". with a scroll saying "I'll be the front guy to make my folks think it's all good". Developers want Shelpin' district and he'll hand it over on a silver platter. Can you hear the 30 gold coins? - lookout

AOC just finished it's drive! where did those supplies go?

"Acadiana Outreach along with Capitol One, Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital, and Pippin McGee are teaming up to host a school supply drive to help collect for less fortunate families. They will be collecting pencils, paper, glue, and anything that can be found on school supply lists. The donations will be accepted from July 25th- August 1st and can be dropped off at Acadiana Outreach (125 S. Buchanan Street in Lafayette), " - realitycheck

Now, Written because I know, You are smack down on the square and you beat me to the shot of shooting down Arrogant Aaron, It is difficult to understand how some would want to sugarcoat a lowlife desperado's actions by requesting fair play, when did Brandon, Williams, etc play fair and honest, wrong these lowlife can't spell Fair or honest, and they have surely nevah practiced nor can they spell, " VIRTURE. - NORTHSIDIAN SHOTGUN

Shelpin' hasn't helped these folks in the past three years. It's sheep to slaughter. Could just as well have put up signs "for sale; real cheap" with small print, "if they don't sell, Durel will steal it and give it to Gachassin". Gifts to children while the grandparents are being kicked to the curb so developers can make money and buy Shelvin... "So they counted out for him thirty silver coins."

Again, we are blaming other accept the ones responsible. Just listen to Aaaron's comments above. The New York Times sells news, just like all major news papers. I have no friends at the Ind. but you certainly can not blame them for Brandon Shelvin's crap. If it is news you report it. How can you say that this is not news worthy when it directly affects people's lives. Oh, I see maybe it want affect your life directly because maybe you benefit from Brandon. You see again the educated voter understands that he is wrong and I know that you mentioned that in your message however, I do not believe for a minute that you believe yourself. Just take time to drive around the district especially around MLK drive and the truman area and see where Brandon has placed his signs. He has them on government property, areas where crack heads stay all day and on corners that are illegal to place a sign. Brandon also puts a sign up next to Pierre. You see the network here. Brandon is working through Chris Williams advice and Chris Williams and Pierre have been walking the streets together for the past week or so. Does anyone not see the pattern here. Crooks! Crooks! Crooks! We all know about Brandon and people still defend him. Pierre said that he is different. NOT! He is with Chris Williams everyday. I just believe that you can not make good chicken salad out of chicken Sh$t!!!! All I want people to do is be smart. Don't put a sign in your yard if you are not going to support that person. Make sure that is who you will support. Vote for positive change in the long run we all win. Finally, ask yourself this question. What did Brandon do in four years for our district that needs jobs, street repairs, working with schools, grass cutting (Evangeline Thruway), Crime, ect. Sit back and think about that then cast your vote. Do you think that having a school drive makes him a good councilman? NO! If Brandon would have been more involved early on people would not question his actions. However, look at the people that he associates with. Brandon is trouble and if he gets elected shame, shame on district 3. We get what we deserve and that is NOTHING!!!!! - Because I know
