Has anyone ever read an employment notice in the newspaper for positions with the Clerk's office? Employees are hand picked. Positions are never advertised. What about Equal Opporunity Employment? Doesn't he work for the people of Acadia Parish? I will not say Robbie doesn't do his job well or lack in knowledge, but it is time for a change. Dirty politics and dynasties are bad for Acadia Parish and it's citizens. People need to wake up and take a close look at what is happening outside their doors. - Who Dat?That'sWho

I have read the article and all the banter that has come about from it and I am amazed how dirty these comments have become. The actual printed article showed parts of the memo and I also read the whole memo on thedeadpelican.com about 2 weeks back. This article showed the facts of the memo and nothing more. There are some things that can be perceived in different ways but it is your own opinion on how to take it. Mr. Leger as well as Mr. Faulk had comments in this article and I saw no bad mouthing from either party. I am not sure how someone can say that Leger is lying about anything when the article stated what was on the memo word for word. The article stated that there were scare tactics involved by making the employees afraid to lose there job which was pretty straight forward with the part of the memo that stated “our campaign is in full swing and several have been working hard already to secure everyone’s job. We take this campaign very seriously as it affects everyone here, even those who have already retired and are planning to retire. Everything that this office provides to the staff and retirees can be taken away at any given time with a change in Clerk, therefore, we must stand and protect all our futures." That statement may not be them forcing employees but it does make them feel threatened that they will no longer be employed by the clerks office should Mr. Leger win. I wish both guys luck on their campaign and in October we will see which way the parish goes.

Lege' is not desperate. If he does not win this race
his lifestyle will not be affected. Citizens should be happy
that they finally have a choice. If you don't like Lege'
don't vote for him, but we need to encourage people to
seek public office. We had 3 generations of Barrouse's as
Clerk of Court (almost 60 years). Robby's dad handed him
that position on the last hour of qualifying 11 years ago without announcing
that he was not seeking re-election, to keep anyone else from seeking
the office. This alone should make everyone in the parish excited that
there will be a choice this election cycle. The Clerks office is not the "Barrouse family business".
Having a college degree does not automatically make someone more qualified
to do a particular job but in this case, just happens that Lege' has a college education and
he is qualified to do the job.
Robby was best of friends with an attorney running for Judge. Robby promised
his public support to his friend until an apposing candidate from a prominent
family met with him and told him that if they lost the judges race they
were going run for Clerk of Court. Robby took his support away from
his friend and quietly supported the now Judge.

The letter put out to the employees by the Clerk is posted on the "Hayride" website titled "Deduct
Box". You can decide whether it required employees to campaign for their boss.
Let's not get too excited about defending Robby until all the facts are
out there. You don't want egg on your face.

Dupuisville, all I can say is YOU are obviously clueless! I have NO IDEA exactly what Lege says or does, but I DO know one thing....the only job Barousse is trying to protect is HIS OWN and its very obvious to anyone who has been paying the slightest bit of attention over the years or is not in a coma! I do not know Lege at all but if you look in the dictionary under "arrogant" I'd be almost willing to bet Barousse is there!
Oh and one more thing....the part about Barousse not endorsing other candidates.....I'm sure there are rules and regulations about those things which I know nothing about, but its somewhat interesting that he has had a fundraiser in prior years that was a joint effort at the time for the then sheriff and Gil Pinac. It sure did appear that he was endorsing them at the time! If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck......
Oh and speaking of immoral....on second thought.....there are not enough hours in the day for Barousse and that one.
If this wasn't so serious it would almost be hilarious! - Watchful "I"

The letter posted in the news article speaks for itself. It's the ethics board that determines
if Barrouse was mandating employees to do anything.
Call Kim H. and let him, explain in a way that you might understand how Barrouse kicked
a friend to the curb out of fear of having a well known
person run for Clerk. Call Barrouse let him tell you how it all took place.
If you can get him to be TRUTHFUL !!!!!
I must agree that a college Degree does not always mean that a person is more qualified
for any job, just so happens in this case it does.
This is not Larry Leger. - wonderful, just wonderful

kilo1tango2,

Being a well educated person does not mean that a person is more fit to run a public office. You also need to be a person with a lot of honesty, integrity and have the people's interest at heart, which Lege is sorely lacking. A college education certainly does not mean that such an individual is more intelligent and better qualified. I know plenty of people that were straight "A" students in high school, who never went to college, but could run circle around some of the people who did go to college. - dupuisville

Leger,

You must be quite desperate to feel the need to spread all these LIES about Barousse. This goes to show how immoral of a candidate you are and that the last kind of person we need running the parish clerk's office, not to mention very arrogant as well. Barousse has in no shape or form forced his employees to walk house to house nor sell a certain amount of tickets to support his candidacy. Also, it is a HUGE LIE about him turning against his best friend. All of the intelligent citizens of Acadia Parish are smart enough to realize that he cannot endorse another candidate running for office, obviously because if he did, this would effect not only his but his employees jobs. He cares very much about protecting his employees and secure there jobs for the future. - dupuisville

It seems to be a good year for "abuse of office" and other ethics violations locally. I recently leanred of suit filed earlier this year against the Lafayete Parish Sheriff's Office for mutliple ethics and criminal violations. What is going on in our local political offices? - Robert the bruce

It is exactly politics like this that keeps businesses from locating in certain parishes.
Acadia has so much to offer but this sort of "good ol boy" politics causes concerns and makes people wonder who they will have to "pay off" either literally or in some way, to stay in good standing so to speak. Hard to believe this still is tolerated! I understand Larry Lege is a good ethical and moral person, time to let the "family legacy" fade away and put Mr. Lege in office. - Coullion

Stories such as this one illustrate why the concept of tenure-even with all of its faults-first came into existence. Forcing or intimidating an employee to support a given political cause or candidate is a violations of an employee's freedom of belief, expression and association. The fact that such situations exist is testimony to the lack of confidence, the insecurity, the sense of desperation exhibited by the intimidator. In the case of an elected official, the official's record should "speak" for itself. If the official's record is so poor, is so lacking of substance that such professional bulling and intimidation is required, then the time has come to put the official "out to pasture". - RODEOCLOWN

I'm actually glad to see that someone has come out and posted this about what is going on in Acadia Parish! The article states it all in black and white. Some people are blinded by what is going on, but some actually now see the true colors. It might have taken years for these true colors to come out but now everyone will see because every person has their day! Larry Leger is a great man running for office, has great morals, and most of all respect for every person, not just the people he favors. Good luch LARRY LEGER!!! - Oneshortperson

Leger is a well educated, well respected person in Crowley who is a perfect fit to be elected Clerk of Court. The smart people will be the ones voting for Leger but the idiots in the Parish will be the ones voting for the other. We finally have someone with guts to run against the establishment. Great job Mr. Leger. - Kilo1Tango2
