Some years ago, a well-constituted and motivated group of parents formed an organization to attempt to build a new band facility for Lafayette High utilizing private donations. After initial success, including large monetary commitments, the effort faltered because LPSS would not allow money to be escrowed by the organiztion. Requiring that any funds raised be turned over to LPSS to be held in the, you guessed it, "general fund!"
