Actually - Your friends can also give away your information without your knowledge. My friend added some app to his phone that gave away all of the phone numbers in his phone. If you go to their website, they tell you that they sell the information they collect. So now I get phone calls non-stop from solicitors on my cell phone!! There are a lot of Facebook applications that do the same thing. They collect your information as well as your friends information. - Lynn

Jill --

I agree. Wiretapping and surveillance, to my mind, are things done without the knowledge and consent of the victim. With Facebook, the user has to consent to it, knows it's happening, and can opt out at anytime...right?

There's a world of difference there.f - ragin_cajun

The collection of most of the personal information is elective. Sure, there is the info you need to supply to set up an account but what additional info you put out there is your own doing. If you don't like it, don't subscribe. - Jill

Sounds like something Ieyoub would do. Yet another example of an attorney who sees a big company with a pot of gold, and he files a nuisance lawsuit just so they'll give him some money to go away. He knows they know there is no basis for the suit, but it's cheaper for Facebook to send Ieyoub a check than to fight it. There has been no damage done to the plaintiff, but Ieyoub and his low-life client will get a few hundred thousand bucks and their 15 minutes of fame. And lawyers wonder why they're so despised. There is no honor among thieves. - Johnny M
