I'm convinced this is a push for raises a little down the line; it takes a while to collect the new taxes, and to support someone's cousins' cousin who is in construction or "consulting". I don't think we'll like what a 50 % increase in prop tx does to business in this parish & I'm disgusted the Chamber of Commerce has been so quiet. I'm in no mood for an increase in my property taxes in order to give teachers & school board members a raise down the line. I'm in no mood to support career politicians who voted themselves huge raises & lifetime health benefits. He voted to raise his own pay 300%. He also said that the legislators would be resigning in droves if the raise failed. NOT!! They still spend more to get elected than they will ever make (what is wrong with that picture). And I can assure you they don't spend that kind of money because they love Louisiana.
