Charlie Langlinais says the Broussard park is for our future and for our kids! Hogwash !!! He is the owner of Cote Gelee Real Estate Co. and you can bet your life savings the park will be built on property he has listed with his company. Personal profits derived from taxpayer money is what Charlie gets out of bed for every morning !!!!! - Broussard Native

Let's not forget the property tax increase bill that was rejected that would have repaired our badly desintegrating elementary and middle schools. The total cost of that vote parallels the amount of money that is going into these recreational centers. So children breathing in mold and having no air-conditioning or heat and improper plumbing and wiring and cafeteria facilities, Who Cares! Let build a dog-walk park instead! No, better yet, let's build two of them less than 5 miles apart! I think it's an embarassment. Why couldn't these two towns have worked together to build a single complex instead of wasting important tax dollars? Greed, Greed, Greed. - Rhegan of Broussard

>he pervasive anti-tax sentiment in
>our community apparently does not apply
>when it comes to parks and recreation.

Investment in sports = good
Investment in education = bad

This is Louisiana, after all, where academics at our state's flagship university are being cut to the bone even while its football team is steamrolling its way to a national championship . . . which is all that really matters anyway, isn't it? - Farrow

If the City of Lafayette wanted to do a similar thing -- a tax for parks -- would that have to be voted on by just Lafayette or the entire parish? Anyone know for certain?

Thanks in advance and all the best,
