This is a load of crap. "lawfully inoperable" includes cars that do not have insurance.

If I have a classic car that I want to restore one day, I should be able to keep it on my property without having to keep it registered and insured.

This smells like the work of insurance lobbyists, who should all do us a favor and kill themselves.

And I'm starting to have some serious doubts about the legal advice that LCG. Shouldn't they be heading off all these legal controversies? - ragin_cajun

"Mr. Phillips was directed to request a hearing from the chief of police but, after doing so, was informed by Lafayette that he was supposed to contact a different department to request a hearing"

So the whole process for enforcing this cool new law was not really thought through. Kinda like the way they did SafeSpeed. I hear that the permitting process in Lafayette is kinda like this, too. Sounds like we have weak administration of City-Parish business?

I bet not a single person that cast a vote for Joey Durel could have told you on election day whether or not the Durel administration did or did not have a solid record on actually administering the laws and business of the Parish in an efficient and cost effective manner. - ragin_cajun

The Staff @ The Ind should be worried about this law. The '71 Pinto Walter is driving may qualify. - Always Ragin
