I have not read anything about Stewart (shan't even address him as a doctor, since seeing him take that pic over the woman he knocked out) making any apology for his actions...and he is the one 'harping', not you all. Let me point out to Mr. Broussard that the first duty of any journalist (reporter or publisher) is to provide people with information they need to know that might impact upon their lives. To this length...they must also be able to prove what they write, and if the Ind had libeled Steward, I'm so very sure he would have already taken steps (legal ones) to stop it. It's not like he's a pauper and cannot afford a lawyer. That is NOT the case here. What is the case is that it seems that he has harassed these people for doing their job in an effort to make them cease and desist from spilling the beans about his schemes. As I said, were it not the case, it would have been simple enough for him to make them stop. That, sir...bothers the hell outta me. Were they of less integrity, they might have been scared off...and then where would be be? In the dark...because once you scare 'em off once, they won't be as apt to expose things to us that we NEED to know again. Effectively...the people's right to know will have been squashed by the efforts of a bully. Then...who is next to bully? You...me...anyone who uses any means at all to inform the citizenry of the truth? Poof...there just went freedom of speech, buddy. He probably is not going to stop..even if a lawyer tells him to do so because he thinks he's above everyone else not of his ilk..at least in my opinion of what I've read thus far...and that bothers me as well, when one innocent woman, who just happened to be related to staff...got brutally attacked. Gloria Steinem once told women "The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off." (hope that quote doesn't violate any rules here). Well...this whole story has that effect upon me. I'm NOT happy that someone is trying to keep me, an ordinary citizen, from knowing things that can impact upon me. I'm NOT happy that he's found ways to do all of this outside what I consider the bonds of decency..but within the law. I'm NOT happy that a woman was brutally attacked by a man. And I'm certainly NOT happy that some people in this community don't recognize that it's NOT about Cherry Fisher May and Glenn Stewart in the long run...it's about OUR right to know. If we don't support these folks at the Ind...well, maybe you're willing to give up that right...but I'm not and I'm betting that a LOT of other folks aren't either. You guys keep on keeping on.
