tanner_blood.jpgFriends, family and former students of Dr. John Tanner, severely injured earlier this month in College Station, Texas, have rallied around the popular UL Lafayette business professor. Tanner remains in a hospital recovering from injuries he sustained when his bicycle was struck by a car. Tanner was in College Station teaching a summer course at Texas A&M University.

On Wednesday, supporters of Tanner held a blood drive on campus attended by 101 people. Donations made at the drive are being converted into monetary credits to help defray what will likely be astronomical medical costs for the Tanner family. Supporters are keeping in touch and organizing fundraisers for Tanner through a Facebook page, Dr. Tanner Support Group (Please Pray). More than 1,100 people have joined the group thus far and donated roughly $1,000 on Tanner’s behalf.
