Get your cooking game on Cajun fans, as Elizabeth Rose, the editor of UL’s weekly newspaper The Vermilion and IND Monthly’s intrepid food writer/photographer, will be on a mission at Saturday’s home opener against Lamar to find the best tailgating food.

We’ll crown the winner in the October issue of IND Monthly, which will also include a photo feature on the best setup/eats on game day at Cajun field.

With expectations for the Cajun squad high this year, there will be a huge tailgating party Saturday; she obviously can’t make it everywhere, so first-come, first to serve.
There will soon be a whole lot of shakin’ going on at Benny’s Sportshack Supplement Depot, a new concept by Opelousas native Benny Nele. Located at 2002 Johnston St., the supplement shop, smoothie bar and café, featuring hot off the press paninis and wraps, plans to open in late May.
