Series Presenting Sponsor IberiaBank joins River Ranch and Sugar Mill Pond Development corporations with the support of Van Eaton & Romero Realtors to bring nationally respected speaker to town.
Mitchell Silver, president, American Planning Association
Winning designers will receive their awards at the 8th annual Smart Growth and INDesign Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, May 1, at 11:45 a.m. at The City Club. Each year The Ind seeks a nationally respected speaker for this prestigious event, and that is especially true for 2012’s keynoter Mitchell Silver.
As president of the American Planning Association, Silver is leading the effort to make planning one of the most relevant professions in the 21st century. As Chief Planning and Devlopment officer in Raleigh, N.C., he has led the comprehensive plan update process to create a vibrant city with a modern transit system, great streets, great places and great neighborhoods. Known by his colleagues as a creative thinker, problem-solver and visionary leader, Mitchell has been at the center of many cutting-edge trends, innovative solutions and visionary plans. His message is perfectly timed for Lafayette as our parish develops its first-ever comprehensive design effort to lay the foundation for our future growth as a desirable, livable community.
