This time of year one of the easiest ways to look utterly holiday lies in your accessory choices. And while we love traditional holiday wares, we've spotted a couple of cool options that can go from day to night and keep your holiday look totally fresh.
Let's start with the footwear. These flirty little patent shoes from Shoe La La are just what St. Nick ordered and certainly IND Style approved. We're all about colored footwear around here. (And never get tired of the nude hued shoe trend.) The bit of sparkle on the toe? Can't get enough sparkle this season. We'd wear them with cropped navy (or black) velvet pants, skinny forest green jeans or a demure little lace dress of with a circle skirt. They'd also be fantastic with dressy shorts of lace, silk or tweed.
Over at kiki, Alexis Bittar's newest wares are brighter than the Griswold lawn and yet (of course) totally chic. Give the neon trend an utterly uptown vibe with these bangles that would be perfect with black head to toe. (I know, I know ... I love all things with a pop of color and black head to toe.) If you're brave, pair them with this winter's surprising pastels. How lovely with mint green, lavender or bubble gum pink! (Bubble gum pink dressing for the holidays deserves an exclamation point.)
David Calhoun and Elizabeth “EB” Brooks are the first two employees of Lafayette Central Park Inc., the nonprofit charged with turning Lafayette Consolidated Government’s 100-acre Johnston Street Horse Farm property into a passive public park. Calhoun was named executive director, and Brooks is director of planning and design.
There will soon be a whole lot of shakin’ going on at Benny’s Sportshack Supplement Depot, a new concept by Opelousas native Benny Nele. Located at 2002 Johnston St., the supplement shop, smoothie bar and café, featuring hot off the press paninis and wraps, plans to open in late May.
