Vitter's throwing another TEA party

What's a senator to do while he's blocking the nomination of the new head of FEMA and it's less than a month from hurricane season, The New York Times tells him to “get out of the way,” and he has a porn star running around reminding everyone about his “serious sin”? Well, if you're U.S. Sen. David Vitter, you start drumming up enthusiasm for another TEA (Taxed Enough Already) party. The Gambit reports that Vitter has sent out e-mails saying he's planning another TEA party for the 4th of July. He's looking for hosts, attendees, and donors. In his e-mail he writes:

25 days ago, we sent a message to Washington's liberal leaders by putting on TEA Parties across Louisiana. We told them loud and clear that we will not tolerate liberal politicians raising our taxes, and worse yet, wasting our money without producing results. ...

July 4th marks an important date in our nation's history. It is the day we celebrate America's freedom and independence from oppressive and narrow-minded leadership. Too many of Washington's liberal politicians have forgotten what it means to live in a free country where citizens have the right to own a business, work hard and provide for their family – without the government taking nearly half their income and deciding how it should be spent. ...

Yeah, sure, now that there's a Democrat in the White House, the government is suddenly oppressive and narrow-minded. All of the sudden, Washington is taxing and spending wastefully. TEA party = just another partisan hijacking of a noble event. Why don't all you so-called "conservatives" do something really meaningful and support the "Audit the Fed" bill (H.R. 1207) in the House?

JP! You do not get it! Shame! Yew, the federral government is being run by left-wing-nut socialists. They do love power! But, the taxes will enslave us all! POINT #2: The state goverrnments also are spending and taxing us into slavery. No longer is it government of the people, by the people, and for the people. It is government of the enslaved tax-paying citizens, by the politicians and for all sorts of corrupt blankity blanks. Let's make the July TEA parties bigger and better and noisier! They ignored a million TEA party attendees, let's try to give them a bigger number to try to ignore.

I didn't think it was possible for something or someone to jump the shark more than once, but Vitter has done it again. It's bad enough that Stormy Daniels is causing a stir, but now Vitter has to pander to the base to make them forget about his hypocracy? Oy.

Rudder, if you are so afraid of a large government and being "enslaved," where were you when George W. Bush was shoving the USA PATRIOT ACT down Congress's throat? If you feel so enslaved in the United States, why don't you just leave? Find another country in the world where all the politicians are saints and the government truly of, by, and for the people. If you want to talk about someone being "enslaved," let's discuss life for an African-American that lived before and during the Civil Rights Movement.

Is someone confusing tyranny with losing . . .
What was/is Vitter up to? When did 38% become nearly half?
"America's freedom and independence from oppressive and narrow-minded leadership." Have we thought about the run-up to Iraq lately with the PATRIOT Act sprinkled on top?

ipa, How do you make the leap that Rudder wasn't having a problem with Bush? You libs always assume that if we are mad now that we just got that way. The only thing much much worse than repubs is Dems. They both are restricting our rights and trying to enslave us. It's just the Dems do it much faster and in larger strides. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. They just want to stay in power at all costs. This is why we need term limits. I am soooo sick of someone pointing out something bad about Obama and then the libs say "Yeah but what about Bush?". Come on Bush is gone, lets talk about current events and the freakin Socialist that we have to prevent from killing liberties and freedoms faster than any president ever has and it's only been 100 days. Can you imagine 4 years???? Scares the daylights out of me!!
This is the most corrupt Government we have ever had and they all need to go. We need to vote out everybody currently holding office! And NO MORE CARRER POLITICIANS!! We would be better off with a president from the local PTA with a cabinet made up of mechanics and waitresses.

"Non Libtard," at least you acknowledge that both parties restrict our rights. As far as the dreadful tax hikes under the current leadership, can you please spell out exactly where they are? I'm getting a tax break in my paycheck right now. Granted, it's a pittance compared to billions upon billions given to corrupt banks, but the point remains. And please explain how our liberties are being killed right now, more than they were under Bush and the post-911 Republicans. And about those supposedly "grassroots" TEA parties...Google "Freedomworks tea party." Hint: partisan lobbying groups.

I can't beleive that people are not up in arms. I can tell you that so called tax cuts are just taking away from next years tax refund and people will owe taxes. we have to quit fighting and look at what's really going on.

"Non Libtard:" How do you make the leap that I am a liberal? Is it because I dare say that Bush--I man I supported in 2000 before becoming an independent--screwed the American people over? I'm merely calling it as I see it.

I'm not going to blame Obama for anything just yet. Considering he's only been in office for four months, it is too early to sing his praises or blast him. If you want to blame anyone for this mess, blame Congress, as it approved some of the bailouts even before the election.

I do agree with your assertion that some politicians "just want to stay in power at all costs." That said, term limits aren't the answer. Voters need to educate themselves about the issues and the candidates before voting. It doesn't matter what type of term limit you set, an uneducated public will always elect corrupt or corruptible public servants.

"Socialist" is merely a scare word. If we all reflect upon ourselves and our lives, we'd discover that we are all a little bit socialist.

FYI... I can guarantee you that the Baton Rouge, Acadiana, LC, NOLA, and a couple of others, are not associated with Vitter in any way. We've met him at a couple of other events but have not allowed him to speak at or on behalf of us. We are non-partisan and we will continue to be grassroots and independent of any large scale organization. We will work together. As part of the Louisiana Tea Party federation, we will retain our autonomous strengths and assist each other as needs arise on the state and Federal levels.
