The day begins with a 9:30 a.m. prayer service at Lake Martin. Then friends, family, and co-workers of the late Dana Landry Massey will meet for live music, a farmers market, and activities for the kids at the Feed & Seed, 106 N. Grant St., Sunday, around noon. The public is invited.
The line-up includes Chrysi Anne Forton, Brother Dege, Chad Faulk & them, Shane Blonco, Nayvbors Basement, Drew Landry w/Lee Allen & the Crew, and The Kenneth Richard Band.
According to her brother, Drew Landry, Dana "lived what she believed. She also promoted green energy and worked with homeowners who wanted to save money by using solar panels. She helped establish the farmers market in Freetown, which is located near downtown Lafayette, and had many plans to make this world a better place."
Landry writes that after an award winning career in the Air Force in Southern California, his sister moved back to Acadiana, raised her daughter on a farm and made goat soap and learned about sustainable agriculture.
"First, we will raise the necessary funds to defray the cost of her funeral service [which was April 4]. In the coming year, her friends plan to raise money in Dana's name for projects she pioneered and also work with many non-profit organizations to ensure a sustainable future for our children."
A fundraiser in Dana Landry Massey’s name will be held later in the afternoon at McGee's Landing in Henderson from 4-8 p.m. for Basinkeeper.org which will provide resources for volunteers to plant cypress & live oak trees in Lake Fausse Point State park and the removal of invasive species such as the Chinese tallow tree.
"There is a suggested $10 donation for these events, but give what you can and being there is more important than the money," Drew Landry writes.
The line-up at McGee's Landing includes Clint Robin, Cory Guidry/Strawboss, Mike Dean, Drew Landry/Bandryland.
