IND Style trend spotting

The IND's first style awards this week brought out some major fashion moments. Frankly, there aren't many events that allow for such fashion forward dressing. And there were really too many style mavens with just the sort of look we love at IND style to properly name them all. (We have to give a shout out to Natalie DeJean in her citrus dress with dramatic sleeves, Hannah Herringstone's spike-decked peep toe heels and Steven Barker's clean navy trimmed shirt and printed pants.)

Four easy trends for event dressing and for fall were easily spotted at IND Style. Red lips, dressy booties, velvet and nude heels.

Velvet is going to be big as temps cool and we love a dapper velvet jacket like the one honoree Dr. Mo rocked. We wouldn't mind seeing one in purple or dark green or even ruby red.

Our favorite red lips were on Robin Hebert and Crystall Coroy. Both kept their makeup utterly chic then added that pop of vibrant color. Bonus: red lips are great for pics.

Nothing takes a demure cocktail dress to the fashion forward lane like a dress bootie. Lacey McCoy did it just right with her sparkling red pair. Think satins, velvets, sheer panels, ruching and sparkling details on mile high booties for a look that's far edgier than the average pump.

A proper round up of event dressing doesn't happen without a nod to the nude heel. It really does work for everyone and pretty much every dress. Bonus: it instantly adds inches to your legs. Look for a pair that are similar in tone to your legs to keep the look sleek. We're loving nude patent these days and it can never hurt to go all out with a platform in the front. The bigger the better, we say at IND style. And after seeing all the mavens at the awards this week it's clear you agree.
