Lafayette's largest fundraising extravaganza began Wednesday with a Preview Party full of Junior League ladies and supporters who didn't disappoint in their sartorial choices. The most independent of dressers we spotted were Lainey Tuten in a green leopard one shoulder dress with ruching detail and Elizabeth Savoie in a funky menswear-insipred jumpsuit and booties.
Lainey's edgy booties, dramatic silver earrings and messy side 'do were perfection. We love a gal who's not afraid of some dramatic accessories, which is why we found ourselves ogling Vanessa V.'s ridiculously big necklace and spiky bracelets over a snakeskin maxi. Junior League ladies Angela Mills (in a chic black dress and metallic heels) and Theresa Matherne were darling. And we appreciate Theresa's nod to the T&T theme with her red, black, white and chevron.
But, the queen bee of JLL reigned over them all in her sophisticated LBD that was anything but an average little black dress with an outline of sparkle and tall golden heels. Alison Howard kept her look utterly Jackie-O with her hair halfway up and a golden glow. Proof that classic can be anything but boring.
Frank’s Casing Crew, now doing business as Frank’s International, will make its final appearance on ABiz’s list of the Top 50 Privately Held Companies in Acadiana this year, and once again, it will likely be at the top with more than $1 billion in annual revenues. The 75-year-old company specializing in tubular fabrication and installation services to the oil and gas industry plans to go public this year.
The defeat, or rather highjacking of House Bill 420 in the final days of this year's Legislative Session, say Reps. Vincent Pierre and Terry Landry, is the result of the propaganda spread by one unidentified local media outlet and an unnamed former state Representative, but nothing to do with the original legislation's lack of checks, balances or details.
