Festival fashion

Here's the thing about a festival. You're not supposed to try. And yet, that blasted Instagram means you're going to see your mug all over the place. The order of the day – effortless, comfortable and on trend.

My comfort begins first and foremost with the feet. Have fun with your four-inch wedges, ladies. I'll be rocking some Frye boots. Shoe La La has an awesome classic pair that work great with just about anything you'd like to wear – jeans, leggings, maxi skirts, short floral dresses, short shorts. And you can wear them all day long without pain. Done and done.

In the world of boots that are as on trend as they are comfy, we're obsessing about the moto boots with an optional fold down. Both Vanessa V. and Hemline have fantastic options.

For the rest of the outfit, comfort is key as well. Pair moto boots with jean shorts and a lightweight button down (we love the plaid one at Brother's with contrasting trim and a chambray one over at Vanessa V.) with rolled up sleeves and layers of boho necklaces. Perfect with a messy top knot.

And nothing's easier for a warm weekend than a lightweight hippie chic little dress like the one we found at Hemline. Add a side braid and go, which brings us to the hair.

For a hot day at a festival, hair that endures is crucial. We recommend the lazy (busy) girl's sock bun. We love a side braid and if you're adventurous try an on-trend braid of the fishtail variety. (Found in October's IND Monthly.)
