With Christmas approaching and books and other goodies piling up in its office, Deep South Magazine is having "12 Days of Giveaways."
For 12 days in a row, the online mag will be giving away books and one or two other items to 12 lucky winners. Today’s giveaway is a new guide to boudin, South Louisiana’s sausage-like delicacy, by Dr. Boudin himself Robert Carriker. With photographs by Denny Culbert (who’s also been documenting North Carolina barbecue aboard The Barbecue Bus), Boudin includes a history of the link, where to get it, and then goes on to feature notable boudin locations throughout the area.

There will soon be a whole lot of shakin’ going on at Benny’s Sportshack Supplement Depot, a new concept by Opelousas native Benny Nele. Located at 2002 Johnston St., the supplement shop, smoothie bar and café, featuring hot off the press paninis and wraps, plans to open in late May.
