The Chitimacha Louisiana Open will hold a press conference on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Honda of Lafayette (1708 North University Ave., just north of I-10). A significant announcement that affects all spectators and fans for this month’s Nationwide Tour tournament is planned, and tournament chairman Harry Patin and executive directory Danny Jones will be in attendance for interviews.
In addition, two and possibly three of the four golfers who received sponsor’s exemptions for the tournament — all local players — will be on hand for the official announcement of their exemptions. Also, representatives of the Krewe Des Chiens and their canine friends will be there to discuss this weekend’s kickoff of qualifying for the Cypress Bayou Casino $1 Million Hole-in-One Challenge.
David Calhoun and Elizabeth “EB” Brooks are the first two employees of Lafayette Central Park Inc., the nonprofit charged with turning Lafayette Consolidated Government’s 100-acre Johnston Street Horse Farm property into a passive public park. Calhoun was named executive director, and Brooks is director of planning and design.
