What a weekend for UL and LSU sports fans. The Ragin’ Cajuns pulled off a 36-31 upset over 17-point favorite Florida International Saturday at FIU Stadium in Miami — their third straight win — and the LSU Tigers defeated No. 16 West Virginia 47-21 in Morganstown, their third convincing victory over a ranked team.

The win moved LSU to No. 1 in the AP rankings for the first time since winning the 2007 national championship and guarantees Cajun fans will pack the stadium this weekend when the Ragin’ Cajuns take on Florida Atlantic at 7 p.m.

The New Orleans Saints, of course, completed the triple play Sunday, with a 40-33 come-from-behind win over the Houston Texans. For those keeping score, it was the second winning weekend for local football fans.
