Brees guest speaker at Acadian’s annual luncheon

Its guest speakers are always inspiring (last year, ironically, it was Indianapolis Colts’ QB Peyton Manning), but this year’s speech by New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees may be the most-highly anticipated in the history of Acadian Ambulance’s Annual Paramedic Luncheon.

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees will take the microphone Thursday, May 20, as the guest speaker at Acadian’s Annual Paramedic Luncheon at the Cajundome Convention Center.

Brees led the Saints to their first-ever Super Bowl appearance and 31-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts this year, in the process earning Super Bowl XLIV MVP honors. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl four times in his career – with the Chargers in 2004 and the Saints in 2006, 2008 and 2009.

Additionally, Brees was recently selected by voters to be on the cover of EA’s Sports Madden 11 NFL video game.

Acadian will recognize the work of its staff at the annual luncheon and honor the 2010 Medic of the Year, Eddie Domingue of Houma. The invitation-only luncheon’s main guests are Acadian’s employees; the convention center seats about 1,500, with more than 1,100 of the seats filled by Acadian’s staff.

I don't begrude the Acad. employees their enjoyment or their recognition. I dislike the way the company they work for spends zillions to keep free enterprise from this state. I dislike the under the table money it pays to officials to maintain their monopoly. And while the company can well afford to pay the big speaking fees, I know its the dollars of poor people and taxpayers that are actually funding the dinner and speaker.

I don't begrudge Morrow his opinion, but I don't think anyone can argue with the assertion Acadian is a quality ambulance service. When it comes to paramedics who render critical life-saving care, I would rather have one provider with exceptional service than a dozen providers all trying to cut costs to stay competitive. Just my opinion.

All the best,

Soop

I work for Acadian Ambulance, While there is lots of money thrown around with legislature with every company. Acadian Ambulance is a company im proud to work for, knowing everyday when i report to work i have reliable equipment & advanced life saving equipment that one day, may be needed to save your life. With these smaller companies around, you never know on a day-to-day basis what you have to work with.
