Head to Pack & Paddle Dec. 13 for shopping, live music and fundraising for children's Christmas gifts.
Pack & Paddle is located at 601 E. Pinhook Road. At 6 p.m. Tuesday the outdoor gear shop is donating 10 percent of its sales for this fundraiser Pint Night, to local nonprofit Acadiana C.A.R.E.S. This organization works to help people living with HIV and their families — most of its clients fall more than 200 percent below the federal standard for poverty. Illness means finding work is difficult and keeping it even tougher so it's hard for them to buy Christmas gifts for their kids.
C.A.R.E.S. is partnering with Pack & Paddle, Bayou Teche Biere, Freetown Fries and Smartwool to make sure kids get to have Santa visit. Freetown Fries will be there serving food and donating 10 percent of its sales as well. Bayou Teche Biere will be offering up beer for a $5 donation to the cause.
Bands Delta Pappa and Miss Emily & the Collard Greens will perform while you shop and mingle.
Call Acadiana C.A.R.E.S. at 233-9797 to find out how you can help.
Frank’s Casing Crew, now doing business as Frank’s International, will make its final appearance on ABiz’s list of the Top 50 Privately Held Companies in Acadiana this year, and once again it will likely be at the top with more than $1 billion in annual revenues. The 75-year-old company specializing in tubular fabrication and installation services to the oil and gas industry plans to offer shares of its stock to the public for the first time.
The defeat, or rather highjacking of House Bill 420 in the final days of this year's Legislative Session, say Reps. Vincent Pierre and Terry Landry, is the result of the propaganda spread by one unidentified local media outlet and an unnamed former state Representative, but nothing to do with the original legislation's lack of checks, balances or details.
