I read your article in The Independent recently regarding the re-vitalization of the Borden Ice Cream Parlor in Lafayette ("Sweet Offer," Feb. 9). I must take my hat off to Mr. Dickie Breaux and his innovative thinking in bringing back a favorite location that is dear to many residents of Southwest Louisiana. In this fast moving, mean and fierce world we live in today, it is quite necessary to bring back some of the calmness and pleasurable times which existed in the past.

Six years ago, I purchased a well-known landmark ' Place Eugenie. This landmark was the old Mount Carmel Convent and grounds. I too share in providing an avenue in which we can remember the good times.

Again, I applaud Mr. Dickie Breaux in his efforts and hope the best for him.
