LOUISIANA UNIVERSITY SYSTEM OVERDUE FOR REVAMPING

Love your article on the LSU/UL issue. I think the state is long overdue on revamping the system. LSU can remain the "flagship" school, but there is no reason UL Lafayette cannot thrive as well. Must LSU continue to go above and beyond the call of duty to try to hold down each and every university in the state that it views as a potential threat to the "almighty"?

Louisiana needs to put politics behind and do what's best for the state.  Other states in this country seem to thrive with a "flagship" university and other prominent schools, such as Florida State, Florida, Miami; Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, etc.; Ole Miss, Mississippi State; Oklahoma, Oklahoma State; Kansas, Kansas State; Iowa, Iowa State and on and on. Why must Louisiana continue to be different than the rest of the country?
