FBI searches D.A.’s office

FBI agents searched the office of one of District Attorney Mike Harson’s employees this week. News of the search was broken Thursday night by KATC. Harson has so far been mum on the employee targeted by the search, saying only that he was asked to voluntarily provide access to the office and that he is cooperating fully with the as-yet unspecified probe.

The Advocate reports today that, according to Harson, that search “carried over to the office of Assistant District Attorney Gregory Williams,” although according to the chief parish prosecutor that carry-over doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with Williams, who handles traffic cases.

The feds are so far declining comment on the case.

A source tells The Ind that the feds may also be seeking information from Lafayette Consolidated Government or one of its departments. However, LCG Chief Administrative Officer Dee Stanley would not say whether City Hall has received a subpoena related to the matter. “We can neither confirm nor deny that we’ve received any subpoenas,” Stanley says.

Harson did not return calls from this newspaper today.
