So much for comity: Durel gives Broussard ultimatum

On the same week he donned his good cop hat and offered a “show of good faith” by releasing $20,000 to the city of Broussard to aid its fire department, City-Parish President Joey Durel has gone all bad cop on Mayor Charlie Langlinais, his counterpart in the south Lafayette Parish town. Durel sent a certified letter to Broussard Tuesday giving it 10 days to drop a pair of lawsuits it filed against Lafayette — one challenging that $825,000 LUS water bill, the other seeking to block an annexation by the city of Lafayette off Ambassador South.

If Broussard doesn’t relent, Durel writes, he “will assume you have chosen to sever ties with Lafayette.”

Durel tells The Advertiser the $20K for fire protection is not tied to the ultimatum.

Here’s the letter:

Like I have said before. This is a war between two arrogant LITTLE PISS-ANTS! And the public is caught in the middle.
